JD’s latest sprayers

John Deere’s new R4050i self-propelled sprayer for 2017 features a 5000-litre capacity tank and comes as standard with a 36m carbon fibre spray boom.
At around 800kg lighter than a steel equivalent, the carbon fibre boom is six times stronger and does not suffer from the stress fractures or corrosion that can significantly shorten the life of metal spray booms. It can also be ‘patched’ easily on-farm.
The use of carbon fibre technology also enables an improved 48% front/52% rear weight distribution, allowing lower tyre pressures to be used and it can be equipped with UltraFlex tyres such as 480/80 R46 SprayBib or 520/85 R42 CeresBib options.
With an all-up weight just 300kg higher than the 4000-litre R4040i model, the R4050i’s additional tank capacity, combined with the ability to spray at higher speeds of up to 28kph, offers contractors a vehicle capable of long working days.
Also for 2017, JD’s R900i and M900 Series trailed sprayers (as well as the new R4050i) will be available with the BoomTrac Pro boom height control system, which is specifically designed for the extra wide booms.
This has full integration with the sprayer’s joystick control and a choice of three or five sensor options to provide better performance spraying on slopes, enhanced spray coverage and reduced spray drift.

Sprayer cab with a vision

AGCO’s RoGator 600D’s new Vision cab from its Challenger brand is aimed at giving better operator visibility, space and comfort.
This ‘global cab’ is already fitted to AGCO products and the sprayer version is totally integrated, and is 32cm wider than the previous C-Series cab, giving plenty of space for a passenger seat and integrated hot/cold storage box.
There is 14.3% (0.5m3) interior volume increase and the front screen is 1.34m2 larger – or almost 90% more. Combined with the narrower steering column, this greatly improves operator visibility, aided by the flatter but wider and curved design of the rear windows and slim-line rear cab posts.
The cab interior and control panel is all new too, with a re-designed arm rest housing all the main functions and controls, while the current twin screen terminal from the RG600C has been replaced by a single 10.2-inch screen in the RG600D.
The new cab also features an updated climate control system, including a higher powered air-conditioning system.
Other changes includes adding 90-litres to the size of the diesel tank, up to 320 litres and an easier to use pull-out chemical storage container.
Also, the new position for the hydraulic tank behind the cab has allowed the access platform to be made of a flat floor design. The standard top and bottom halogen front work lights can be optionally replaced by a LED package.

Amazone’s smarter Pantera

The 2017 model Pantera 4502 Tier IV self-propelled from Amazone, features better creature comforts for the operator, plus faster filling times, better drive lines and different hill climb options in the Pantera+models.
They also come fitted with faster-folding, stronger booms, in more widths and folding choices.
These booms will also have HeightSelect, an award-winning, new automatic height control system that recognises the nozzle selection made in AmaSelect and then lowers the boom automatically to the correct ride height in the field.
