Near Whitebred Shorthorn record

Prices fell just short of the 7400gns record price at a show and sale of Whitebred Shorthorn and Galloway cattle at Carlisle, last week, when a Shorthorn heifer from Gordon Jackson's Blackburn herd from Newcastleton, sold for 7000gns.

Selling for a near record was Blackburn Twinkle, a 19-month-old Whitebred by Lochdochart Nemo, that stood first in her class at the pre-sale show. She is out of the Glendearg Tom-sired Milnholm Twinkle, and was knocked down to Pembrokeshire breeder, Ian Archer, East Moor, Manorbier.

Next, at 2600gns, Keith Laurie, Snowdon Close, Gilsland, Cumbria, sold Corrie Diamond, a 21/2-year-old heifer by Corrie Reiver out of East Deloraine Diamonte. The buyers were A Murray and Sons, Sewingshields, Haydon Bridge, Hexham.
