New Charolais record

A new Charolais breed and centre record of 100,000gns was set at the Stirling Bull Sales on Wednesday.

That was for Vexour Garth, a son of the 30,000gns Dingle Hofmeister and out of Vexour Della, a Maerdy Tally daughter, from Jan Boomaars of Heathdown, The Ridge, Woldingham. He sold to the Livestock Capital Company, USA, and it is believed that he will be kept in the UK with semen being exported to North America.

A full report of all the breeds at this year's bull sales, including pictures of the leading prices, averages and prize lists, will be in this week's The Scottish Farmer, out October 27.
