Scottish Beltex sheep breeders dominated the proceedings at a breed show and sale at Chelford, both as consignors and buyers, with a trio of John Barclay, Maybole; Jock McMillan, Newton Stewart; and Stuart Wood, Inverurie, Aberdeenshire, buying the top priced ram at 1500gns and later they were behind many of the highest priced lots.
Sale leader at 1500gns was a substitute ram lamb from Andrew Bishop, Malvern, Worcestershire. He is by Fort View Knight and out of a ewe by Luggsmill Jethro.
On the other side of the equation, Jock’s shearling ram from Carse of Clary, Clary Northern Boy, secured the pre-sale championship and sold for 1250gns.
