Tamhorn Blues sell to 14,000gns

The dispersal of Danny and Jane Wyllie's British Blue Tamhorn herd saw a top price of 14,000gs at Newark Livestock Market and a healthy average of £3501 for the 48 females on offer.

Sale leader was Tamhorn Earlene ET, an August 2009-born Tamhorn Sumo daughter out of Gregmaur Brandy. She was knocked down to Richard Mowbray, buying for his Droit herd, Co Tyrone, Northern Ireland.

Brandy was also behind the breeding of the day's second highest priced lot, the herd's stock bull Tamhorn Formidable ET. This January 2010-born Springbank Blackstar son out of Brandy traded at 13,000gns to RA and M D Butler, Thatcham, Berkshire.
