Five-figure price for Welsh Blacks

Welsh Blacks sold well at the recent breed sale at Dolgellau, Wales, peaking at 12,200gns for Ysgethin Twm, a rising two-year-old son of Trefaes Twm 2, from William Evans, Egryn, Talynot.

He is out of Ysgethin Mona 2 and went home with DG and E Thomas, Aberdyfinant, Llangadog.

Mr Evans also presented the second top priced lot at 8200gns with another by Trefaes Twm 2, this time Ysgethin Twm 2. Similarly aged, he is out of the grand-dam of the top priced bull, Llechwedd Mona 22, and sold to RJ Evans, Gwerncaernyddion, Llanbedr.

Best among the females at 4300gns, was the maiden heifer champion, Graig Goch Meriel 19, from Emyr Jones. Selling to A Morgan Farms, Rhigog, Aberdare, she is by Ysguboriau Brenin 75 and out of a Mynydd Major-sired dam.
