Making that top money was Coldplay of Fingland from Jimmy and Margaret Wallace, of Fingland, Dalry, and helped by daughter Kirsten. Coldplay is by Kirkmabreck Monarch and out of Lady Polka 1 of Fingland, making the 22-month-old Coldplay a full brother to the 10,000gns Barack Obama of Fingland. He was snapped up by society chairman Andrew Work of Kilnstown Farms for his herd based at Kilnstown, Bewcastle, Carlisle.
Following on and making 7000gns was one from Alan McClymont's Kirkstead herd at Yarrow, Selkirk. His Kirkstead Taurus was senior and overall champion at the show, which was judged by Iain Finlay, of Blackcraig, Corsock, Castle Douglas. Born in September 2009, Taurus is the first crop of calves by the privately bought Braveheart of Gall-Way and out of Nerys Ingrid of Nether Cleugh, a cow bought at a reduction sale which has been a great bull breeder. Brought out by stockman David Faulds, Taurus was knocked down Klondyke Farms, Shancastle Farm, Moniaive, Thornhill, Dumfriesshire.
Among the females and it was once again John and Ann Finlay's Blackcraig herd which led the trade at 3500gns with the reserve female champion, Blackcraig Dusty S392. This 26-month-old, by Blackcraig Nimrod and out of Blackcraig Dusty M178, was snapped up by Barquhill Farming Company, Barquhill, Wigtown, Newton Stewart.
