North of England Blonde breeder, James Weightman, led the way at a Blonde show and sale at Carlisle, last week, producing the two top priced bulls at 7000gns and 6500gns.
Mr Weightman who farms at Hallfield, Easington, Peterlee, Co Durham, received 7000gs for the 21-month-old bull, Hallfield Designer, a Blackwater Ainsley son out of Hallfield Pandora, a Whistley Dollar daughter. The buyer was MK Harrison, Sleddale Hall, Wet Sleddale, Shap, Penrith.
The second Hallfield bull, Hallfield Destiny, which also scooped the reserve male honours, sold to Scotland when purchased by G and A Hamilton, Ramrig Farm, Duns, for 6500gns. Another by Ainsley, this rising two-year-old is out of Hallfield Rhona.
The male champion from Tom Cope, South Brownhill, Strathaven, made 4800gns to AR and HC Thomas, Sealand Farm, St Brides Major, Bridge End, Vale of Glam. He is by Cromkill Sandy and out of Brownhill Uzell.
