Charolais bulls sold to 4600gns in Dungannon this week, at the NI Charolais Club’s show and sale.
Sale topper was Ratoary Evander, the day’s reserve overall champion. A 15-month-old by Dartonhall Brandy and out of a Beechdale-bred cow by Rossy Pride, he was bred and exhibited by Sean McGovern, Clogher, and sold to Cloughey Farm, Newtownards.
At 4400gns, was the 14-month-old Fury Action son, Mountjoy Echo, which stood overall champion at the pre-sale show. Bred by Desmond McAskie, Omagh, he was knocked down to H Blaney, Ballymena.
A bid of 3500gns secured the senior champion, Stranagone Edd, a 16-month-old from Robert McWilliams, Swatragh, to J Mullan, Pomery. Sired by Oldstone Egbert, he is out of a Bevingford-bred cow going back to Mowbraypark Napolean.
Two lots were bid to 3100gns each. First at that money was Lisleitrim Denver, a 20-month-old Pirate son, out of an Anneskeagh dam. Bred by Dominic Bellew, Newry, Denver went home with Liam McElroy, Ardboe.
The second 3100gns bid was made by Arthur Kelly, Carrickmore, for Drumfin Democrate from Basil Buchanan, Hillsborough. This 19-month-old is sired by Moorefield Viper and out of a home-bred dam going back to Dolland lines.
Averages: 30 bulls, £2610.00; four females, £2415.00.
