Trade peaked at 2800gns for an eight-year-old cow by the French sire, Ferry, at an unhaltered sale of pedigree Limousins at Carlisle, last week.
Rundales Sixpence, from local breeder, RD Howe, Edenstone, Dufton, Appleby, is out of the Gagnant-sired cow Calrossie Orissa, and sold in calf to Ballinloan Rascal, to A Hall, Preston Tilery, Brafferton, Darlington, Co Durham. Her nine-month-old bull calf, Rundales Edwin, by Rundales Amos, made 1600gns selling to Allanton Farming, Allanton, Darvel, Ayrshire.
Mr Howe who is retiring from farming also received 2000gns for Gunnerfleet Toward, a seven-year-old cow by Fieldson Officer, bred by I Handley. She is out of the Heros daughter, Gunnerfleet Meward.
Orkney farmer, Michael Curister, Laga, Evie, then went to 1900gns for Maraiscote Cupid, a served heifer from A and M Gray, Craighead, Back O Hill, Torrance, Glasgow, but bred by Ian Nimmo. This Normande Urquhart daughter sold served to Sympa.
Averages: 31 cows and heifers served and or suckling, £1362.58; seven bulling and maiden heifers, £971.42.
