Borders to 850gns

Trade peaked at 850gns at a show and sale of pedigree Border Leicester females at Carlisle on Monday, when the reserve champion, a gimmer from Jim Brown's Eildon flock from Mindrum Mill, Northumberland, was bought by Jasmine Hine, High Stowbank, Kirkland, Frizington.

His winner, by Bosolo Ghali and out of a dam by Eildon Everest, sold scanned for twins to Drennan's 007 Solo.

Ms Hine also bought the champion, a ewe hogg by Alticane Getho, from Bob Brown, Rose Cottage, Radernie, Cupar, at 620gns. She is out of a ewe by Kininimonth Jims Fancy.

Matching the 620gns bid was the second prize gimmer, also from the Eildon flock. Another by Bosolo Ghali, and due to Drennan's 007 Solo, she was bought by Welsh breeder, D Hughes, Glanrafon, Conwy, Gwynedd.
