BEST quality shearling rams met a strong demand at Aberdeen and Northern Marts’ sale of 210 Lleyn rams and females, last week, where a shearling from Blackpots, Auchnagatt, led the trade at 750gns.
In all, 11 rams averaged £405.45 (+£6.74 on the year) with the second top price of 650gns paid for the pre-sale male champion from Laga Farms, Evie.
Pre-sale judge, Colin Crawford, Crooklands, Forth, found his champion pen in five ewe lambs from Nether Toucks, Strathaven, that later sold for £100. Top price, however, was £158 per head paid for a pen of five gimmers from Woodlands, Dyce.
Gimmers cashed in to average £132.67 (+£11.16).
