PETER Baul’s Ravensgate pedigree Holstein herd bagged its first Craven Dairy Auction championship of the year at the February show and sale at Skipton Auction Mart.

Mr Baul, from Watergate Farm, Bishop Thornton, led the way with his first prize newly calved heifer, Ravensgate Jeeves Marigold 190. She is by the Genus sire, Ked Outside Jeeves, out of Ravensgate Kingly Marigold 134, and sold seven days calved giving 25 litres for £1720 to Ken and Lynne Throup, Silsden Moor.

Sally Wellock, who runs the Harehills pedigree dairy herd at West House Farm, Oldfield, Keighley, had the first prize newly calved cow and reserve champion in the shape of Harehills Brenda 605. This Picston Shottle daughter, out of Brenda 408 changed hands 33 days-calved into her second and giving 34 litres for £1520, to the pre-sale judge, Wick Williams, Nantwich,
