MORE than 44 years of service as Aberdeen and Northern Marts’ canvasser in Orkney and outer islands canvasser, has come to an end for Michael Delday, who has retired from the company.
Mr Delday received a bespoke clock, a painting and a substantial cheque in recognition of his hard work and commitment to the agricultural industry at a special retiral event staged for him in Kirkwall, where many of his colleagues who travelled from Thainstone, Inverurie, were present.
Starting as an office boy with ANM in 1972 at the Belmont Mart in Aberdeen, Michael progressed to clerking for auctioneers at branch marts in Ellon and Maud. In 1982, he started travelling to Orkney and Shetland to canvas stock and in 1995 he relocated to Orkney, making the islands his home.
Robbie Stanger – a prominent figure in the Orkney agricultural industry – has joined the ANM team and looks forward to growing strong links with Orkney and the outer isles.
