ONLY three of the 234 cattle forward for the March Mid Month Dairy Sale at Beeston, failed to find new homes, where a top price of £2050 was achieved on two occasions.
First at this level was Fordswood Gabriel Bliss, a home-bred heifer from Howard Walmsley of Garstang, which was paraded 10days and was giving 37kg daily. She sold to David Colclough of Hassall who also purchased the second £2050 heifer, Rowarton Olympian Daisy from Roger Sutton of Astbury. This Crackholm Fever grand-daughter had calved six weeks and was giving 32 kg.
Top price for Gavin Sturthers' Balcurvie herd from Windygates, Fife, who sold 20 heifers, was £1920 paid for Balcurvie Graham Carol, a daughter of Netherside Graham giving 34kg.
