Forfar
LAWRIE and Symington had forward 28 prime cattle, last week, where seven bullocks averaged 228.8p per kg and 18 heifers levelled at 228.3p. 
Limousins from Nethermyres led the bullocks to 248p for one weighing 581kg and £1572.21 for another at 647kg. 
Among the heifers, trade peaked at 248p twice for a 549kg Limousin from Gask and again for a 533kg Limousin from Nethymres. A Charolais from Gask led the price per head section at £1480.36.
Prime hoggs (704) levelled at 171.2p with SQQs at 176p. Trade hit a top of 214p for a 43kg Texel from DN Jackson, Mains of Melgund, and £93.50 for a 44kg from J Buchan, Torrax.
Suffolk ewes from Uras topped the 136 cast ewes and rams at £99.50. 

Huntly
HOGGS made a buoyant trade at United Auctions, last week, when 1906 reached a top of 212p per kg for a 39kg Beltex from Overhill, and £90 for a 54kg Texel from Daies, Wardhouse. 
A record entry of 1283 cast ewes was forward, where all classes sold better on the week. They sold to £125 for Suffolks from Tofthills. 

Longtown
Poor weather ahead of the sale meant for a smaller show of 4555 prime hoggs at C and D Auctions Marts, last week, where Texel ewes hoggs from Messrs Bell, Kirkton, Hawick, topped at £155. 
Beltex from Messrs Taylor, Easter Ochtermuthill, Perth, sold topped the pence per kg trade at 318p. They averaged 184.4p with SQQs at 196.4p. 
A mixed entry of prime cattle reached 164p for a young Limousin from Bruce Forster, while the top price per head of £1043.75 came from Bellfield.
The sale of 2695 cast ewes and rams saw heavy Texel ewes from Messrs Elliot, Roxburgh Mains, Kelso, and Chaseside Farms top at £159.

Stirling (Cal)
A PLAINER show of prime cattle was forward at Caledonian Marts, last week, where bullocks averaged 201p per kg and heifers levelled at 205p. 
Bullocks sold to 230p three times for Limousins from W Dandie and Sons, Learielaw, Broxburn; AS Hay, Mains of Cultmalundie, Tibbermore; and W Pettigrew, Faskine, Airdrie. Top price per head at £1607 came from C Smith, South Flanders, Kippen. 
Heifers peaked at 235p twice, again for a Limousin from Learielaw and for another from JN Kerr, Bankhead, Aberdour. A Charolais from J Brown, Greencraig, made £1516. 
Young bulls averaged 174p and hit a top of 210p for a Limousin from W Dick and Sons, Mains of Throsk, Stirling, and £1493 for a Charolais from J Miller, Lochend, Port of Menteith. 
Beef cows levelled at 122p and sold to 157p and £1200 for a Limousin from D and L Graham, Mains of Burnbank, with one from J Walker, Glenwhilk, Argaty, also making £1200. 
Averaging 103p, dairy types made 134p from R Nelson, Blairmains, Culross, and £960 from J and I Wilson, Carskerdo, Cupar.
On Tuesday, the company sold 1550 prime hoggs where trade peaked at £108 for a pen of Texel hoggs from Allanfauld, and 238p for a pen of 42kg from JB Guthrie, Cuiltburn. They averaged 179.7p (+4.7p on the week). 
Cast ewes and tups (604) saw the 268 heavy ewes level at £77.82 and hit a top of £126 for a Texel from J McKerrow, Riverview, Bo’Ness, while 230 export ewes averaged £47.52. 

Thainstone
Aberdeen and Northern Marts sold 48 prime cattle last week, where 11 bullocks averaged 191.4p per kg (-5.8p on the week) and sold to 214p for a 675kg Limousin from Learney Home Farm, Torphins, and £1494 for a 900kg Simmental from Aldie Farm, Cruden Bay.
Heifers (22) levelled at 209.7p (+8.8p) and sold to 231p for a Limousin weighing 630kg from Cairncoullie, Glenkindie, and £1476.30 for a 665kg Limousin from Learney Home Farm, Torphins. 
Cast beef cows (123) averaged 136.2p and reached 202.7p for a 560kg British Blue from Hall of Tankerness, Tankerness, and £1415 for a 960kg Simmental from Learney Home Farm. 
The firm also sold 4725 prime hoggs where trade peaked at 251.3p for a pen of 38kg Beltex from Guise, Tough, and £102 for a pen of 42kg Beltex from Hallhill, Kinneff. They averaged 176.7p (+12p) with SQQs at 185.1p (+9.7p). 

Stirling (UA)
PRIME hoggs (4336) averaged 173.1p per kg through United Auctions’ sale last week, peaking at 234p and £109 for Beltex from Downan. 
Texel ewes from Castle Cary Mill topped the 1546 cast ewes at £140, while Hampshire tups from Mains of Callander made £114.

St Boswells
AT Harrison and Hetherington’s sale of prime cattle last week, nine bullocks levelled 212p per kg (+14p on the week) while 48 heifers averaged 220p (+6p).
Heifers led the trade at 250p from Upper Nesbit, while bullocks sold to 246p from Foley Bros, Bee Edge. Top price per head at £1453.76 came for an entry from Bee Edge. 
Cast cows (30) averaged 140p and reached 207p from Coates and £1587 from Craggs.
Averaging 176p (+11p), the 1693 hoggs sold to £100 for Texels from Roundabouts and 230.3p for Beltex from Bedrule. 
Texel ewes from Wanton Walls topped the 321 cast ewes at £121. With heavier ewes averaging £79, lighter ewes levelled at £54 and sold to £79 for Cheviots from Elmbank. 

Ayr
BELTEX weighing 43kg from M Stevenson, Balcamie, Dailly, led the 2556 prime hoggs to a top of 200.9p per kg at Craig Wilson’s sale on Monday, while Beltex from High Letterpin made £98. 
They averaged 180.8p (+14.1p on the week). 
All classes of 799 cast ewes and rams sold dearer on the week, with heavy ewes hitting a top of £168.50 for a pen of Texel ewes from J Yorke, Holms of Calf, Dalry, and averaging £83.94. 
Averaging £55.04, light types sold to £74 for a pen of Blackfaces from A Blackwood, Boghead, Muirkirk. 
Texel tups from J and J Thomson, Mossend, Kirkmichael, topped the cast rams at £128.50. 
On Tuesday, the firm’s sale of 11 prime heifers averaged 212p where trade peaked at 237p and £1410.15 for a Limousin cross heifer from Langlands, Tarbolton.
Averaging 128.7p, the 23 beef cows topped at £1350 for a British Blue from Farden, Turnberry, while 55 dairy types peaked at £1140 for a Frisian from Strandhead and 146.8p for a pen of Friesians from West Dhulloch. 

Carlisle
DUE to better weather, a smaller entry of 37 prime cattle was forward at Harrison and Hetherington’s sale, on Monday, which saw a Limousin cross bullock from Messrs Cape, Kirkland Guards, Wigton, top at £1535. 
Bullocks also reached 215.5p for a Limousin from Messrs Harrington, Hosket Hill Farm, Carlisle. 
Heifers peaked at £1477 for a Limousin cross from Messrs Jones, Ashcroft, while a Bazadaise from Messrs Morton sold for 223.5p. 
The firm’s sale of prime hoggs saw an increased entry of 2087 head, averaging 185.4p with SQQs at 195.01p. 
They sold to a top of £104.80 for a pen of Beltex from Messrs Little, The Hollands, Penton, and 273.2p for a pen of 38kg Beltex from CR and CL Donaldson, Hazel House.
 
Castle Douglas

TRADE was sharper at Wallets Marts’ sale of 928 prime hoggs on Tuesday, where Texels from both Messrs Ingham, Skaith, Newton Stewart, and Messrs Milligan, High Glasnick, Newton Stewart, topped at £97 per head. 
A similar pen from AF Campbell, Tappit Lane, Port William, sold for 241p per kg. They averaged 175.42p with SQQs at 184.05p. 
Cast ewes and rams (309) also sold dearer on the week, averaging £55.61 and selling to £103 for Texel ewes from Byrecroft.  

Dingwall
SELLING through Dingwall and Highland Marts on Tuesday, were 11 prime bullocks which sold to average 217.6p (+7.8p on the week) with nine heifers at 210.5p (-9.2p). 
Bullocks led the pence per kg section, when a 550kg Limousin cross from Newton of Darnaway, Forres, sold for 220p and £1200. 
Heifers peaked at 216p for a 545kg Charolais cross from Bridgend Farm, Dingwall, and £1250 for a 625kg heifer from the same home. 
Averaging 189.3p (+12p), the firm’s sale of 2600 hoggs topped at 227.9p and £98 for a pen of 43kg Beltex crosses from Torgorm, Conon Bridge. SQQ hoggs averaged 194.7p (+13.9p). 
Rams and feeding sheep (109) levelled at £62.61 and sold to £110 for Suffolk tups from Torgormack, Beauly. 

Newton Stewart
HEAVYWEIGHT  Cheviots from Cairndoon led the 2117 prime hoggs  to £87 while Beltex from Castlewigg topped the pence per kg section at 206p, at Craig Wilson’s sale on Tuesday. 
The 2117 on offer sold to average 175p. 
Cast sheep (143) peaked at £140 for a Charollais tup from R Templeton, Carslae.
