BOTH pedigree and commercial buyers ensured a solid demand for Limousin bulls at Newark Market’s Spring Limousin Day where the sale met a 96% clearance rate and peaked at 6000gns.
Securing that lead price was Calogale Lionheart from Messrs Lee and Lloyd, Kidwelly, Carmarthenshire. A son of Ampertaine Gigolo and out of Goldies Glorious, he sold with a beef value of +41 to JT Mitchell and Sons, Thursford, Fakenham.
Second best at 5800gns was an entry from the Quick family’s Devon-based herd. Loosebeare Lumpy, a son of Loosebeare Fantastic and out a Haltcliffe Anzac daughter, was knocked down to J and JR Appleby, South Somercotes, Louth.
Pedigree females sold equally well, with a top of 4500gns paid for Absolute Melody, a Diamant daughter, from Richard Bartle and Mary Cormack, Herefordshire. She sold to the Gould family, Bromere Heath, Shrewsbury.
