DE-SU Rookie 11057 has risen to the top of the daughter-proven Holstein sires available in the UK in the latest proofs published by AHDB Dairy this week.

Adding 44 profitable lifetime index (PLI) points since the last proofs four months ago, Bookem-sired Rookie claims the top spot with a PLI of £669. Add to this a high lifetime index score of 0.7 and the best somatic sell count index in the top 10 of -25, he also has the best mastitis predicted transmitting ability (PTA) of -4.

Former number one sire, Lavaman, slips to second place with a PLI of £635. He now has nearly 800 daughters in the UK and has a 99% reliable production index.

With a PLI of £626, S-S-I Shamrock Mystic climbs to third place thanks to an improved daughter fertility index (FI) of +16.5.

Tollenaars AltaMicro maintains his top five position with a PLI of £625, and now adds some UK daughter information to his balanced proof, most notable for his FI of +17.7.

Kings-Ransom Erdman, which sat in the number one spot in December, now lies in fifth position with a PLI of £623 having been overtaken by some steadily improving sires.

One sire which has made significant improvement is the number six bull, VH Cole Clark, a Curtis Cole son. He offers a different pedigree for the UK market and gains a PLI of £617.

Previous entries, Teemar Shamrock Alphabet and the high production sire Seagull-Bay Supersire, hold their position in the top 10 to stand seventh and eighth with PLIs of £615 and £612, respectively.

Immediately following his father (Supersire), is a new entry into the daughter-proven list in the shape of Cogent Supershot, which fills ninth position. Early milking daughters in the USA contribute to this bull’s graduation into the proven list, where he largely mirrors his earlier genomic predictions. He has a PLI of £599.

Rounding off the top 10 are Co-Op Robust Cabriolet (with good fat and protein percentages) and S-S-I Bookem Morgan, both with PLIs of £589.
