Whittinghams Farm Supplies
AN on-farm sale for Whittinghams Farm Supplies in Preston, Lancashire, conducted by Cheffins, saw more that £1.6m worth of agricultural machinery change hands. 
Cheffins chairman, Bill King, highlighted more than 30, predominantly Massey Ferguson tractors, 18 Manitou telescopic handlers, a Claas forage harvester and more than 400 lots of implements, trailers and spares sold to many buyers from throughout the UK and Ireland as well as from Poland, Spain and Belgium. 
The 2013-registered Claas 870 harvester topped the day at £99,000, and a 2014-reg JCB 418 loading shovel followed on at £75,500. Four 2015-plate Massey Ferguson 7618 tractors traded between £48,500 and £49,500, while 2013 models made between £36,500 and £41,000. 
Manitou tele-handlers were also in demand and peaked at £37,000 for a 2015-reg MLT 634, followed at £31,000 for a 2013-plate MLT 739-210.
Grassland machinery and silage trailers were being targeted by farmers and contractors. A Kuhn front and rear mower outfit raised £20,000, a 2011-reg 3500 Claas Liner rake made £16,000, and a McHale 998 bale wrapper was sold at £18,000. 
Three 16t Broughan silage trailers fetched between £11,000 and £11,800 and Hi-Spec tankers made up to £11,900, while a 2014 Bunning spreader made £14,900.
