Pedigree Limousins met an unbelievable demand at Carlisle, where bulls peaked at 100,000gns and females at 42,000gns.

The two-day show and sale, saw bulls sell to 100,000gns, 60,000gns and 50,000gns, with the sale leader being James McKay's Ampertaine Mozart, from Northern Ireland. A son of Kype Orkney, he sold to Proctors Farm, Lancs, managed by Gary Swindlehurst.

Making 60,000gns for a delighted Christine Williams and Paul Tippetts, Shropshire, was their overall champion, Wilodge Lookout, by Gerrygullinane Glen. This cracker was knocked down to Charlie Boden, buying for his Sportsmans herd from Stockport.

Scottish breeders, Iain and Moira Nimmo and son Andrew, bought the 50,000gns bull their Mariascote herd from Carnwath. Selling at this price was John Crofts' Bassingfield Machoman, a Millgate Fame son from Notts.

An amazing trade from start to finish saw 129 bulls average £7676, up more than £1250 on the year and for eight more sold, and with an 88% clearance.

Females sold the previous day also met a cracking demand peaking at 42,000gns, 35,000gns, 19,000gns and 15,000gns, for heifers from Mike and Melanie Alford's Foxhillfarm herd from Devon. 

Dearest was the much talked about Foxhillfarm Mammamia, purchased by Brian Evans, Penrhos, Powys, who also bought the 35,000gns and 19,000gns heifers.
