SPECIALLY Selected Pork has teamed up with popular Scottish gin producer, Indian Summer Gin, to demonstrate to visitors at this year’s Taste of Grampian festival how pork and gin can be enjoyed together.
As the main sponsors of the event, Specially Selected Pork will be showcasing the fantastic qualities of the product, including its versatility, during two cooking demonstration sessions with Indian Summer Gin in the outdoor cooking marquee and BBQ tent.
The ‘Kilted Chef’, Craig Wilson, will be cooking up some delicious pork dishes accompanied by Grant Strachan from Indian Summer Gin who will talk the crowd through the gins which best complement the dishes and the reasons for this.
Commenting on the partnership, Graeme Sharp, marketing executive from Quality Meat Scotland, which promotes Specially Selected Pork, said: “Pork and gin are a perfect pairing and we are bringing together two great Scottish brands at the Taste of Grampian food festival.
“We hope the sessions will demonstrate how versatile pork is and inspire consumers to try something new, whether it’s for a midweek dinner or a celebratory feast.”
Grant Strachan added: “Indian Summer Gin is infused with the exotic spice saffron. It is brilliant for use in recipes or to simply drink with a meal as its tasting notes include coriander, lemon and pink peppercorns so it can help bring out similar spice, herb and fruit flavours in dishes.
“We’re excited to be part of Craig’s demonstrations and let people who attend, sample our gin which is bottled in Huntly.”
Specially Selected Pork is the main sponsor of Taste of Grampian, held at Thainstone on June 3, and its high profile involvement aims to ensure that the visitors who attend the event leave with a better understanding of what sets the Scottish pig industry’s brand apart.
