Forfar
LAWRIE and Symington’s sale of prime cattle saw three bullocks average 233p per kg and 32 heifers level at 226p.
A 524kg Limousin heifer from Nethermyres topped at 258p, with the same home selling a 601kg Limousin bullock for 244p and £1466. A 610kg Limmy heifer from Gask topped the gross trade at £1500.
Among the sheep, 165 prime lambs averaged 234.2p and sold to 256.5p from Templeton and £119 per head from Wellbank Mains.
Beltex from Glenmoy led the 196 prime hoggs to 225p for a 40kg Beltex with 50.5kg Suffolks from West Bogton to £99. They averaged 181.1p.
Suffolk ewes from Southtown of Melgund led the 138 cast sheep at £95.

Dumfries
HEIFERS topped C and D Auction Marts’ weekly sale of prime cattle when a British Blue from Pendicle sold for 228p per kg.
Averaging 145.2p, beef cows sold to 183p for a Limousin from Belzies and £1366.40 for a Devon from Upper Portrack, while dairy cows levelled at 116.1p and peaked at 142p from Netherwood and £1157.65 from Lagganlees.
Also forward were 265 prime lambs which averaged 239.9p and sold to 255p for Texels from Eastside and £108 for Suffolks from Drumburn.
Prime hoggs (271) reached £100 for Suffolks from Townhead, while Beltex from Park led the cast ewes to £125.50.

Huntly
NEW season lambs (109) met a firm trade and sold sharper on the week, with trade reaching 242p per kg for 43.5kg Texels from Meikle Beggshill, Drumblade, and £121 for 58kg Suffolk crosses from Cranna Bridge, Aberchirder.
Well-fleshed hoggs were easily cashed, with 407 old season lambs selling to a top of 201p for 38kg Cheviots from Tillyminate, Gartly, and £110 for 62kg Texels from Gun Cottage, Buchromb.
Also forward were 353 cast ewes where Suffolk cross ewes from Newseat of Tolquhaun, topped at £101.

Thainstone
ABERDEEN and Northern Marts sold 47 prime bullocks to average 207.9p per kg (+7.6p on the week) and 19 heifers which levelled at 222.9p (+7.1p).
They peaked at 238p twice – for a 555kg Charolais from Waterside Forbes, Alford, and again for a 545kg Limousin heifer from Auchmaliddie Mains, Maud. Topping the gross trade at £1583.30 was a 710kg Limousin bullock from Sunhoney, Echt, while heifers reached £1395.15 for a 615kg Limousin from East Town, Tarland.
Averaging 146.9p (+0.2p), the 157 beef cows reached 208.8p for a 570kg Beef Shorthorn from Cadbollmount, Fearn, and £1470 for a 860kg Limousin from Tofthills, Clatt.
The firm also sold 267 new season lambs to a top of 264p for a pen of 43kg Texels from Newton of Carnousie, Forglen, and £117.50 three times – firstly for a pen of 49kg Charollais from Barnyards, Mintlaw; secondly for a pen of 45kg Beltex from North Lurg, Midmar; and also for a pen of 52kg Continentals from Gaval, Fetterangus.
They averaged 233.6p (-6.5p) with 201 SQQs at 235.2p (-9p).
Texels weighing 44kg from Kilcoy, Muir of Ord, led the 1274 hoggs to 239.8p. Averaging 194.2p (-3.1p), they also sold to £132 for 58kg Texels from Mousa Cottage, Leebitton.

Darlington
TRADE was sharper on the week at Darlington Farmers’ Auction Mart prime sale, when a Limousin heifer topped at 256p per kg from B Walker, Birch Springs. Heifers also peaked at £1455 from K Norman Farms, while bullocks sold to 229p and £1560 from JM Hall.
Prime lambs (1492) averaged 246p and hit a top of 295p for a pen of Texel lambs from N Swinbank, Cold Comfort, and £127.50 for a pen of Texels from JC Simpson, Hill Top East.
Among the 628 hoggs, a pen of Texels from L Fowler, Prospect Cottage, led at 223p, while a pen from AC Simpson, McNeil Farm, sold for £126.
Cast sheep sold similar on the week, reaching £110 for a Texel tup from GH Lister, Holebeck House.

Stirling (Cal)
A LARGER show of prime cattle was forward at Caledonian Marts sale, where heifers topped at 245p per kg from AS Hay, Mains of Cultmalundie, Tibbermore.
Averaging 221p, they also sold to £1573 from J Watson, Candermains, Stonehouse.
Bullocks levelled at 210p and peaked at 242p from W Dandie and Sons, Learielaw, BRoxburn, and £1795 from C Smith, South Flanders, Kippen.
Young bulls reached 215p for a Limousin from IW Brisbane and Son, West Woodland, Blairdrummond.
The firm also sold 70 cast cows and bulls, with beef cows averaging 137p and selling to 178p for a Blonde from J and M Campbell, 42 Forthview, Mannerston, and £1420 for a Limousin from Learielaw.
With a poorer show of dairy cows forward, they reached 105p twice from Messrs Hamilton, Roughwood, and P Johnstone and Son, Glenrigg. Messrs Hamilton sold another at £970.
On Tuesday, the firm’s sale of 229 spring lambs averaged £104.86 (+£4.67 on the week) and sold to £125 from I and G Farmer, New Flockhouse.
Top price per kg at 284p went to R Hamilton, Gilmeadowland, Linlithgow, for a pen of Texel cross lambs.
Prime hoggs (305) levelled at 182.5p (-2.5p on the week) and sold to a top of £131 and 235p from W and W Brown, Mountlothian, Penicuik.
Among the 397 cast ewes and tups, 165 heavy ewes averaged £79.89 and sold to £117.50 for a pen of Texels from M Jack, Carriston, Star of Markinch, while 197 export ewes averaged £57.92.  

Longtown
A LARGER show of 693 spring lambs saw heavyweight lambs sell sharper on the week and C and D Auction Marts.
They sold to 308p for Texels from Messrs Thompson, Woodhead, and £134 for Suffolks from Messrs Deby, Riddings Hall.
The sale of 2836 prime hoggs peaked at £130 for Texels from Messrs Retson, Maidencots, and 248p for Beltex from Messrs Taylor, Heathery Hall. They averaged 199.1p with SQQs at 199.3p.
Among the 2836 cast ewes and rams, Charollais ewes from Beckfoot topped at £153, with Texel rams from Eastside to £137.
Cast cows sold to 150p or £1080 for a Charolais cow from Baxter.

Stirling (UA)
SELLING through United Auctions were 711 new season lambs which averaged 238p per kg, as well as 1107 hoggs which levelled at 176.58p.
Spring lambs peaked at £128 twice for Texels from both Newton of Collessie and Pitsundry, while Beltex from Easter Octhermuthill led the pence per kg section at 284p.
Among the hoggs, it was Suffolks from Wester Kinleith that topped at £110, with Suffolks from Muckraw at 203p.
Also forward were 473 cast ewes where Suffolks from South Park led £100 and Texel tups from Ashintully sold for £108.

St Boswells
ON Monday, Harrison and Hetherington sold 21 bullocks to average 218p per kg as well as 29 heifers which averaged 216p.
Heifers topped at 249p (-6p on the week) from Bee Edge, while bullocks peaked at 240p (-7p) from Shidlaw.
Top price per head at £1592.22 came for an entry from Longnewton.
Averaging 152p, the 32 cast cows averaged 152p (+1p) and sold to 225p from Dunslaw and £1552.50 from Upper Nesbit.
Among the sheep, 877 spring lambs averaged 244.5p or £103.80 per head with trade hitting a top of £127 twice for Texels from Thirlestane and 277.3p twice for Texels from Lochside.
The 362 hoggs levelled at 183p and peaked at £131 for Suffolks from Middlefield and 212.9p for Texels from Meigle.
Cast ewes (229) averaged £78.57 and sold to £111 for Suffolk ewes, while heavy ewes levelled at £88. Light ewes sold to £79 for Cheviots to average £61.

Ayr
BELTEX weighing 44kg from R and MK Duffin, West Brockloch, topped Craig Wilson’s sale of 402 spring lambs at £124 per head and 281.8p per kg.
They met the dearest trade of the season and averaged 253.1p (+23.9p on the week and +49.1p on the year) or £104.03.
Prime hoggs averaged 181.8p (-0.8p on the week and +48.7p on the year) and hit a top of £102 for Texels from Ellison Mains and 211.4p for Roussin from Knocknaib.
A smaller sale of 218 cast ewes and tups were forward where heavy ewes peaked at £140.50 for a pen of Texel ewes from M and R Currie, Westlands, Rothesay, to average £78.14. Light ewes sold to a top of £76.50 for a pen of Blackfaces from Craig and Co, Rankinston Farm, Ayr. They averaged £58.77.
On Tuesday, the company’s sale of 11 prime cattle was topped by a Limousin cross heifer from N and S Johnston, which sold for 235p, while another Limousin cross from N and S Hodge, Bogwood, made £1381.
In the rough ring, the 68 beef cows levelled at 140.6p and sold to £1360 for an Aberdeen-Angus cross from J McIntosh, Genoch Mains, while 69 dairy cows averaged 115p and peaked at £1070 from A Watson, Muir.

Castle Douglas
LAMBS were sharper on the week at Wallets Marts’ sale of 493 head on Tuesday, when they averaged 251.63p per kg with SQQs at 252.39p.
They sold to 313.2p and £119 for Beltex from Messrs Marchant, Clonhie.
A smaller show of hoggs again met a fast trade, topping at £104 for Texels from Gelston Castle, and 202.5p for Beltex from the same home.
Among the cast ewes, leaner ewes proved easier to sell than fat with trade reaching £115 for Texels from Townhead of Culloch.  

Carlisle
A BRITISH Blue cross bullock from Messrs Irving, Thackmire, Wigton, topped Harrison and Hetherington’s prime sale at £1630.67.
Bullocks also peaked at 223.5p per kg for a Limousin from Bothel Parks.
Among the heifers, trade also reached 223.5p for a Limousin from West View, as well as £1335 for a Limousin from Knowehill.
Cast cows (451) peaked at 223.5p and £1535 for a British Blue weighing 687kg from Sharplaw Farms, Kelso.
On the same day, 900 spring lambs sold to a top of £131.80 for a Texel cross lamb from Messrs Paterson, Wavercroft, Wigton.
Hoggs peaked at £117.80 for Texels from Messrs Robinson, Wolsty Farm, Silloth, and Messrs Lawson, Stubbsgill, Disington, while ewes sold to £107.50 for Texels from Messrs Graham, Hallrigg.

Dingwall
AT Dingwall and Highland Marts’ prime sale, heifers topped at 233p per kg for a 505kg British Blue cross from Easter Strath, Killen.
The same home sold a Limousin cross heifer weighing 525kg for £1218.
Averaging 220.9p, five bullocks sold to 227p for a 565kg Limousin from Raffin, Tore, with the same home selling a 640kg cross to £1369.
Averages rose on the week for the 45 new season lambs when they levelled at 238p (+18.5p) with 23 SQQs at 179p (-14.2p). They sold to 268.2p and £118 for a pen of Texel crosses from Docharty Farm, Dingwall.
Beltex crosses from Wester Craiglands, Fortrose, led the 102 old season lambs to a top of 209.5p, while a similar pen from the same home, a Dorset from Quarry Croft, Killearnan, a pen of Texel crosses from Dunain Mains, Inverness and a pen of Texels crosses (twice) from Kinchyle, Inverness, all sold for £88. They averaged 159.4p (-18.1p).

Penrith
THE fortnightly sale of prime cattle at Penrith and District Farmers’ Mart saw trade peak at 229.5p per kg and £1351.76 for a Limousin heifer from David Raine.
Heavy continental bulls sold to a top of 197.5p or £1416.08 for a Limousin from Bradford, while black and white bulls peaked at 145.5p from JW Bowman, Middlesceugh Hall.

Newton Stewart
PRIME lambs sold dearer on the week at Craig Wilson, when 439 head averaged 253.1p per kg.
Topping at £122 were heavyweight Suffolks from R and D Wilson, High Barness, with a pen of 29 Texels from G Mulla, Barbae, to 270p for a pen of 29 Texels from G Mullan, Barbae.
A smaller show of hoggs sold to £99 for 44kg Texels from McCall, Brigton, while cast tups peaked at £129 for Texels from P McIlwraith, Barnean. Texel ewes from I Beck, Port O’ Spittal, made £106.
