Charollais sheep breeders celebrated the 40th year of their breed in the UK with a new record price of 25,000gns paid for the champion ram lamb, Knockin Shockin, from Abbie Moseley, at the society sale at Worcester.
More than doubling the previous best was a son of the 3200gns Oakchurch Ruben bred from a home-bred gimmer. He sold to Robert Gregory who owns the Edstaston flock from Harmer Hill, Shrewsbury.
Other top sales included 9000gns paid for the ram lamb Sant Andras Sergean Major, from Justin Evans, Dinas Powys, and two lambs made 7000gns for Mark and Margie Rushbrooke, Bewdley, and David Curran, Glyn Coch, respectively.
Scottish breeders, Gregor and Bruce Ingram, of the Loanhead flock from Inverurie, sold the top priced shearling ram at 3400gns.
