Prices peaked at £2150 at the first sale to disperse R and A Slack’s Cockleybank Holstein herd from Heads Nook, Brampton, when a daughter of Chalclyfe Ransom, was purchased by Bradleys Farms, Preesall, Lancaster.
Calved in March, she sold due with her second in March, to ABS Mohana.
The sale, staged at Borderway Auction Mart, Carlisle, saw the next three highest all sell for £2100 each, of which two were bought by Newhouse Farms, Dumfries.
First was a daughter of Lars Acres Shot giving more than 30litres having calved back in January. She is due again in March to a beef sire. Heading home on the same lorry load, was another Chalclyfe Ransom-sired heifer that calved in April and sold due again in March to ABS Mohana.
The third heifer at £2100 was a daughter of Schillview Jeeves Geldon, that calved in May and is due again in April. The buyer was C Dent Bridge End Farm, Penrith.

Averages: 150 cows in milk, £1129.21; 78 heifers in milk, £1445.51; 228 cows and heifers in milk, £1225.04.
