An increased number of buyers from south of the Border, ensured a good solid trade for Border Leicester's at the society sale at Lanark, where no fewer than nine lots sold at four-figure prices and more sold on the year.

Top price was £4500 paid for the champion, a ram lamb from Sandy Haggart's Muirmouth flock from Perthshire, purchased by Orkney breeder, Keith Hourston of the Didcot flock.

Next best was a £2500 sale for a ram lamb from W Nelson's Kilphin flock from Ballantrae, which headed all the way down to Wiltshire with Messrs Park and Baird, Charlton, Malmesburn.

Females were also in demand peaking at £800 for a gimmer from Northern Ireland breeders, David an Liz Mawhinney of the Rockvilla flock.
