LEAD disclosed price at the Dean family’s production sale from the Threshfield pedigree Holstein herd from Toft House, Skipton, was 3200gns paid for a Spottie heifer.
This on-farm sale saw some 200 animals of all ages forward for the event, where Threshfield Contrast Spottie GP82-2yr, bred from 10 generations of Excellent or VG dams, topped the sale. Calved in August and from the Sunnylodge Spottie family, she was knocked down to JD Holgate, of Rathmell, North Yorkshire. Her Kingpin heifer calf realised 1000gns, to lead the calf section, selling to Messrs Mawhinney, Northern Ireland.
Next best at 2800gns, Threshfield Fever Nora 2 VG85, was purchased by Brian Moorhouse of Aireburn Holsteins, Bell Busk, Skipton. This fourth generation VG or EX that traces back to Ingleview and Springbird herds sold due with her second in December to Kingpin.
In calf heifers peaked at 1800gns for Threshfield Contrast Nora, bred from an Ex dam. She was purchased by Robert and Elaine Butterfield, Bentham, Lancaster.
