Ewe lamb daughters of Sportsmans Tremendous II, proved the star attraction at the Kitrob Texel production sale at Carlisle, producing the two top prices at 3200gns and 3000gns.
The sale, staged on behalf of Dafydd, Dona, Tomos and Carla Jones, Cefn Caer Ferch, Pwllheli, was topped by a ewe lamb bred from a home-bred ewe by Carran Upper Class, purchased by Stephen Cobbald, Acorn Farms, Actonhall, Suffolk, who also bought the 3000gns lamb bred the same way.
The next two top priced lots were also ewe lambs by Sportsmans Tremendous II but bred from ewes by Baltier Panther. The dearest at 2000gns, was knocked down to J and D Lewis, Oakwood Lane, Moston, Sandbach, Cheshire, with Co Durham breeder, M Dent, Front Street, Forsterley, Bishop Auckland, going to 1950gns for another.
Top priced gimmer at 1700gns was a Baltier Panther daughter bred from a ewe by Haddo Ignitor. The buyers were MR and JE Davis, Ravenshaw Farm, Austwick, Lancaster.
Selling back down to Wales, A Jones, Lon Cilgwyn, Hendre Park, Caernarfon, bought the dearest of the ewes at 1600gns. This was a Fachell-bred 2015-born ewe by Sportsmans V8.
