A small but selective sale of pedigree Roussin sheep at Borderway Auction Mart, Carlisle, was led by a shearling ram from Derek Steen’s Ballylinney flock from Coxhill Farm, Moffat, which made 800gns selling to W and G Coulter, East Hyndshawland, Biggar.
The tup is by a Stairhaven sire and out of a Hornacott-bred ewe.
Second top price was 650gns paid by K Young, Tormitchell, Girvan, for a ram lamb from John Fleming’s Stairhaven flock from Castle Sinniness, New Luce, Newton Stewart.
The same home also topped the female section at 500gns when Mr Fleming’s reserve overall champion, a ewe lamb, sold to AJ Carter, Millcroft Farm, Dawlish, Devon.
Averages: 12 shearling rams, £336.88; 18 ram lambs, £279.42; 20 gimmers, £219.98; seven ewe lambs, £244.50.
