ALMOST £500,000 changed hands at Paul and Molly Day’s on-farm dispersal of the Bickleygate Holstein herd from New Sheepfold, Cleveland, where 10 animals sold for more than 3000gns and to a top of 4200gns.
Milking cows sold particularly well with only two failing to hit four-figure prices. Leading this section was the 4200gns sale leader, Bickleygate Ipod Dora, a VG86 fresh third calver giving 47kg. She joins the Richmark herd of R Danforth, Tadcaster, who also purchased a red heifer by Mr Ansly Addiction from the same family for 3200gns.
Nine lots from the Papoose family averaged £3109, to include the second highest priced female at 4000gns, which sold to Peter Waring for the Winton herd near York. This was Bickleygate Pello Papoose GP83-2yr, which is bred from 15 generations of Ex or VG dams. This calved heifer sold served to Riverdown Incredibull Red.
Other Papoose family members made 3300gns, 3100gns, 2800gns and 2700gns.
Served heifers sold readily with five making 2000gns selling to 2550gns for a late October calving Peggy by Addiction and maiden heifers reached 2200gns for a red Amax daughter with a PLI of +£410.
