TWO bulls from the intermediate section went on to stand overall champion and reserve at Stirling Bull Sales today.

Taking the top spot, as picked by Carey Coombs, of Weston, Dunsyre, was the Haigh family's Willingham Kensington from Ashgrove Farm, North Willingham, Market Rasen. This 22-month-old, brought out by Lois and Alice, is by the home-bred stock bull, Willingham Haigh, himself a son of Glenisla Zetor, while the dam is just a heifer, the Belmore Fuel injected-sired Glenisla Eva Broadhooks.

"It was a tremendous show of bulls, and this one in particular is a really good example of a Shorthorn - he's big but very free moving," said Mr Coombs. "There are some thicker bulls here today. I'm not saying he's not got width but he's very well balanced with it."

The reserve intermediate, Bill and Jane Landers' Cairnsmore Kestrel, followed Kensington through to stand reserve supreme for the husband and wife duo from Bargaly, Newton Stewawrt. This fourth prize winner from the Highland Show is out of the former RHS champion, the Uppermill Michael-sired Cairnsmore Dena Princess, while his sire his Chapelton Dauphin.

There were further celebrations for the Haighs when they landed the senior championship with Willingham Katabatic, a Fearn Wyvis son bred from Dunsyre Honeysuckle Opal 9, herself by Uppermill Morse. Reserve senior was Donald Biggar's Chapelton Kaiser, a Chapelton Emperor son bred from the Chapelton Yeoman-sired Chapelton Heathermaid.

Among the juniors it was Duncan McDowell's Caslemount Kubota, an Elliot Matrix son, that stood to the fore. He is out of Castlemount Zuzu Zoe 2, a Castlemount Jokery daughter. Reserve here was Coldrochie Kensington from Douglas McMillan. This son of Fearn Godfather is out of the Colnvalley Titanic-sired Colnvalley Augusta Blossom B6.

The sale of Shorthorns kicks off tomorrow (Monday) at 11am for females (24), which includes the Coldrochie dispersal (27), followed by bulls (96) at 1.30pm.
