Ewes (270) reached £99 for Suffolks from Whitebog, Rosemarkie, and averaged £46.13, while rams (83) hit £140 for a Cheviot from Cuilaneilan, Kinlochewe, and avereraged £46.34.

Feeding sheep (10) sold to £72 for Texel cross wedders from Cambusmore Estate, Dornoch, as well as a Suffolk gimmer from Bogallan, North Kessock.

THERE were good numbers in every section of Harrison and Hetherington's sale of 619 store cattle and 360 weaned calves, where trade was buoyant throughout.

A Limousin cross bullock from Messrs Smith, Gallhill, Canonbie, topped the trade at £1345 while heifers reached £1325 for a Limousin cross heifer from Messrs Donaldson, East Park, Crofton.

Natives peaked at £1184 for a quad of Aberdeen-Angus bullocks from Messrs Holliday, New Bampton, Wigton, and dairy-bred bullocks reached £1115 for a pen of four from Messrs Neills and Sons, Thornington, Jedburgh.

Weaned calves from Messrs Rainhe, Randalholme, topped the section at £0170 for a Limousin cross bullock and £1000 for a British Blue cross heifer, while bulls peaked at £990 for a Limousin from Messrs Slater, Rose Castle.

UNITED Auctions sold 925 store cattle and young bulls, where 498 bullocks averaged 221.92p per kg; 53 dairy-bred bullocks averaged 155.56p; 369 heifers levelled at 216.01p; and five young bulls averaged 202p.

The sale reached 271.1p for a 332kg Limousin bullock from West Shawtonhill, with bullocks also leading the gross trade at £1360 for a 603kg Aberdeen-Angus cross from Croftjane.

Dairy-bred bullocks hit 194.1p from Crosshouse and £1270 from Woodend.

A Limousin cross weighing 386kg from Crosshouse topped the heifer entry at 255.2p and a 592kg British Blue from Biggarshiels realised £1310.

Averaging 135.21p, the 141 beef-bred cows reached 193.2p for a British Blue cross from Whitrighill and £1570 for a Charolais cross from Mid Cambushinnie.

Dairy cows (30) averaged 98.71p, having sold to 147.7p from Nether Braco and £945 from West Lochdrum.

Texels from Nether Pratis topped the 1907 store and feeding sheep as hoggs hit £94 and ewes reached £124.

The sale of 400 store hoggs reached £76.50 for Texels form Elliston and the dispersal of Mule and Suffolk cross ewes from Raymond Dickson, Castlelaw, peaked at £132 for one-crop Mules.

ABERDEEN and Northern Marts sold 901 store cattle, where bullocks topped the trade at 285.4p per kg for a 410kg Limousin from Milton of Noth, Rhynie, as well as £1435 for a pair of 670kg Salers from Mill of Gellan, Aboyne.

With a good show of well-bred cattle meeting a fast trade, the 574 bullocks levelled at 233.6p (+6.8p) while 317 heifers averaged 216.5p (-2.2p). Heifers peaked at 275.2p for a 298kg Limousin from Burnheads, Deskford, and £1370 for a 598kg Limousin from Poolside, Rothiemay.

Young bulls (10) sold to 239.4p for a 426kg Limosuin from Home Farm, Rothienorman, and £1180 for a 480kg Limousin from Milton of Noth.

At the monthly sale of beef breeding cattle, a strong show of heifers with calves peaked at £3200 for a Limousin cross heifer with bull calf from Messrs Stevenson and Son, Lower Langshaw.

This was followed at £3150 for a Lim cross heifer and heifer calf from Messrs Elliot, Bank House.

In-calf heifers reached £1600 for a Limousin from Messrs Pattinson, The Flatt.

Also on offer were 2777 store sheep, where four-crop Texels from Mill of Gellan, Coull, topped the 208 grit ewes at £145.

Store hoggs (1717) increased in value to reach £83 for Cheviots from Berrybrae, Wardhouse, while island hoggs (119) sold to £74 for Texels from Annster, South Ronaldsay.

Feeding ewes and rams (733) sold to £132.50 for pure Texels from Harestone, Crathes.
