A SMALLER entry of 398 store cattle sold sharper on the week and to a top of £1400 for a Limousin cross bullock from Messrs Robinson, Pelutho Park, Wigton, while heifers reached £1305 for a Limousin cross from Messrs Bell, Mawbray House, Maryport.

One of the largest show of 456 weanlings peaked at £1110 for Limousin heifers from Fellside, with bulls to £1065 for Charolais from Orchard House and bullocks to £1000 for Limousins from Beanwham.

ALL classes met an excellent demand at rates ahead of the previous sale, when Dingwall and Highland Marts sold 574 store cattle.

Charolais cross bullocks topped at 300.3p per kg twice for two lots from Creahmhor, with bullocks also reaching £1500 for an 835kg Limousin cross from Ashley, North Kessock.

Heifers sold to 294.6p for a pair of Limousin crosses from Clury Farm, Dulnain Bridge, and £1260 for a Simmental weighing 600kg from Hilton Farm, Tain.

Averages were well up on the year as 312 bullocks averaged 240.4p (against 229.9p in 2017), with 256 heifers at 229p (220.3p).

Six young bulls reached 216.9p and £710 for a Shorthorn cross from 168 West Helmsdale, and averaged 204.4p.

The entry of six breeding cattle reached £1420 for an Aberdeen-Angus cow with male calf from 4 West Shinness, Lairg.

OTM cows (82) averaged 148.1p and sold to 190.1p per kg for a 605kg Limousin cross from Corrachie, Avoch and £1,530 for a 950kg Limousin cross from Kinnahaird Farm, Contin.

OTM feeding Bulls (4) averaged 116.8p and sold to 128.3p per kg and £1,270 for a 990kg Limousin from 25 Camult Muir.
