A SMALL but quality entry of Cheviot hoggs was forward at Harrison and Hetherington's annual prime hoggs show and sale, where the judging was in the hands of Martin McIntyre, of McIntyre Meats.
Taking the championship was a 48.5kg pen from the Maxwell Farming Company team at Druidhall, Dumfries, which later sold to Mr McIntyre for £110 per head or 226.8p per kg. The same home secured second prize with a 49.5kg pen that topped the gross trade at £110.50 and also realised 223.2p.
In third place was a 43.5kg pen from Mrs J Millar, Woodhousehill, Kirkpatrick Fleming, which was knocked down for £100.80 or 231.7p.
Heading up the price per kg on the day, however, was a pen of 11 from Wilson of Woodside Ltd, which sold for 237.2p.
