ESMORES Black Minnow, a 20-month-old black coated bull from Esmor Evans, led the North West Midlands and North Wales Limousin Club spring show and sale at Welshpool Mart, selling for the top price of 7800gns.

The bull, a September 2016-born twin to another male, is backed by Scottish genetics on both sides being a son of Knock Glencoe, a former male champion at the Royal Welsh Show and out of Knock Fanfare. Placed first in his class at pre-sale show, Black Minnow was bought by M Sailsbury, Ashers Farm, Hayfield, Highpeak.

Next best at 6200gns was the champion, Dyfri Morgan from DG and MJ Edwards, Llandovery, Carmarthenshire. A son Fenomen, out of the Wilodge Cerberus daughter Dyfri Hermine, this July 2016-born bull was knocked down to Red House Farm, Newton, Powys.

Not far behind on 5600gns, the reserve champion and similarly aged Pabo Maximus, from WP Hughes and Sons, Rhosgoch, Anglesey, sold to A Rees and Sons, Llanfair, Welshpool. Maximus is by Foxhillfarm Impecabull and out of Pabo Greta.

At 5400gns was the last bull in the ring, Underwood Navigator from I and W Jones, Builth Wells, Powys. Denbighshire breeders, A and A Williams, Corwen, were the last men in on this 14-month-old son of Ballinloan Jaegerbomb out of Underwood Ebony.
