Best of the other beef breeds forward from a select show of Herefords, Salers, Whitebred Shorthorns and South Devons, was 4000gns paid for Peter Donger's 26-month-old Salers bull, Seawell Lincoln, all the way from Foxley, Towcester, Northants.

Hereford bulls also peaked at 3000gns on two occasions. First was Messsrs Hewson's Amberfield 1 No Limit, a rising three-year-old by Kinglee 1 Hero, from Parton, Wigton, purchased by CB Farms, Bedale.
