Carlisle
A SMALLER show of 410 store cattle resulted in an excellent trade at Harrison and Hetherington’s sale, last week, where trade peaked at £1300 for a British Blue cross bullock from Messrs Cairns, Windynook, Armathwaite. 
Heifers hit £1285 for a pair of Limousin crosses from G Brough, Old Rectory Farm, Kirkbampton, with weaners to £1130 for a pen of three Limousin cross bullocks from Kilnstown Farms. 
On Monday, trade was the dearest seen for some time for females with lambs at foot, where Texel cross Mule hoggs with lambs from Messrs Ridsdale, Yew Tree, led at £94 per life.

UNITED Auctions sold 671 store cattle, last week, where 352 bullocks averaged 231.46p per kg with 21 dairy-bred bullocks at 156.37p and 286 heifers at 212.23p. 
Trade reached 292.4p for a 326kg Blonde cross bullock from Brisbane Glen and £1370 for a Shorthorn cross bullock weighing 604kg from Pathcondie. 
Heifers sold to 275.2p for a 238kg Charolais cross from Upper Ettrick and £1180 for a 532kg Aberdeen-Angus cross from Newbank, while dairy bullocks reached 168.3p and £885 for a 526kg Holstein Friesian from Berryhill.
Averaging 155.31p, the 77 beef cows peaked at 220.8p for a Simmental cross from Riccarton and £1450 for a Limousin cross from Upper Spittalton. 
Dairy cows (11) levelled at 113.67p and sold to 164.6p and £945 for a Friesian cross from Hapland.

SOME 404 store cattle sold through Craig Wilson’s Ayr centre, last week, where 203 bullocks averaged 230.1p per kg or £883.74 with 43 Friesian bullocks at 165.8p or £686.05 and 158 heifers levelled at 224.5p or £844.30.
Top price was £1430 paid for a Charolais bullock from Deaconhill and 285.7p for a pen of Limousin bullocks from Broadshean, while heifers peaked at £1340 for a Charolais from Darroch Brae and 255.3p for Limousins from Wee Carlton.  
The entry of Friesians sold to £960 for a pen from Bowhouse and 204.9p from South Cairnweil. 
A small show of ewes with lambs at foot was topped at £191 twice – firstly for a pen of 12 Mule hoggs with single Roussin lambs from Messrs Dunlop, Glengennet, Barr, and again for a pen of Mule gimmers with single Texel lambs at foot from D Murray, Dalmorton Farm, Straiton.

GRAZING cattle were in high demand at Aberdeen and Northern Marts’ sale of 386 store cattle as 231 bullocks averaged 233.9p per kg (+3.2p on the week) with 149 heifers at 227.3p (+7.8p). 
Bullocks topped the trade when a pair of Charolais crosses weighing 342kg from Braebuster, Deerness, made 289.5p to also top the Orkney and Shetland offering, while a 718kg Charolais cross from Stoneyhill, Longhaven, realised £1570. 
Heifers hit 271.7p for a pair of 276kg Simmental crosses from Pittenkerrie, Glassel, while a pen of three Charolais crosses weighing 672kgh from Chapelford, Buckie, made £1485. 
Among the Orkney and Shetland cattle, bullocks sold to £1090 for a 506kg Limousin from J Gaddie, Mooness, Holm.
A 354kg Simmental from Braebuster led the island heifers at 265.5p and a 610kg British Blue from J Gaddie, Mooness, sold for £1320. 
The same day, also saw the firm sell 1397 sheep where breeders sold to £112 for Mule hoggs with single lambs at foot from Bogiebrae, Rhynie, while 182 store hoggs peaked at £70.50 for Texels from Wester Wyndings, Stonehaven. 
Feeding sheep (534) hit £145 for Suffolk tups from Newmill, Crathes.

Dalmally
ALL classes of stock sold well and to a good ringside of buyers at United Auctions’ store and breeding sale of 172 cattle and 902 sheep. 
Bullocks topped the stores when Charolais crosses from Barnakill peaked at £880 and Limousin crosses from 10 Eoilgarry made 321p per kg. 
Heifers reached £820 twice for Charolais crosses from Auchlyne and Limousin crosses from Invernahyle, while Limousins from Poltalloch hit 267p twice.  
A cow and heifer calf outfit from Dallachulish topped the breeding cattle at £1900, with cows with bull calves to £1720 from Scoor, Mull, and heifers with calves to £1880 from Barguillean Farm. 
Cross ewes with single lambs from Dunans made £148, while store hoggs sold to £62 for Texel crosses from Hillcrest, Tiree.

ABERDEEN and Northern Marts sold 130 store and breeding cattle at Quoybrae, where 54 bullocks averaged 245.6p per kg and 45 heifers levelled at 241.4p. 
Heifers topped the pence per kg when a 303kg Limousin cross from Upper Northfield, Wick, made 283.8p, while three 505kg Charolais cross bullocks from West End Farm, John O Groats, realised £1210. 
Bullocks also reached 266.2p for three Simmental crosses weighing 266.2p from West Brims, Forss, with heifers to £1060 for two 445kg Charolais crosses from West End Farm.
The 31 breeding cattle sold to £3000 for an Aberdeen-Angus bull Swiney Hill, Lybster. 
Among the 31 old season store lambs, Beltex from Hillside, Killimister topped at £88, while 221 feeding ewes and rams reached £112 for Suffolks from Quoybrae, Watten.

BREEDING ewe hoggs met a selective trade at Wallets Marts’ annual sale of Blackface and Scotch Mule ewe hoggs when they topped at £310 for a pen of Blackies from JW Kay and Co, Gass, Straiton. 
Blackface hoggs in general were not shown in as good a bloom as previous years which reflected in the trade as they averaged £128.82, a drop of £4 on the year. 
Scotch Mules levelled at £119.46, a rise of £12.20 on the year and peaked at £130 for a pen from Garrochtrie. 
On the same day, a small show of store cattle met recent rates selling to £1010 for Limousin bullocks from Glentoo and 212.4p for Limousin cross bullocks from Miltonise. 
Glentoo also topped the heifers with Limmys at £945 and 214.8p. 
A plainer show of cast cows continued to meet a fast selling trade when they reached 176p for a Limousin from Mill of Plunton and £1088.95 for a British Blue from Trolane. They averaged 128.7p.

FOLLOWING a good spell of weather, buyers were keen to purchase ewes with lambs at C and D Auction Marts’ sale of 817 head, where trade reached £92 per life for Texel hoggs with single lambs from Low Stanley. 
Ewes with lambs sold to £84 for Mules with twins from Quarry House, with the same home topping the 85 gimmers at £86 for a similar outfit. 
Texels from T and M Liddon, Tundergarth House, led the store hoggs at £77. 
The company also sold 108 store cattle where bullocks peaked at £1150 for Limousins from Edenbanks and heifers sold to £990 for more of the same from Dumbretton.

A small show of store cattle met recent rates selling to £1010 for Limousin bullocks from Glentoo and 212.4p for Limousin cross bullocks from Miltonise. Glentoo also topped the heifers with Limousins at £945 and 214.8p. 
A plainer show of cast cows continued to meet a fast selling trade peaking at 176p for a Limousin from Mill of Plunton and £1088.95 for a British Blue from Trolane. They averaged 128.7p.

Longtown
FOLLOWING the good spell of weather, buyers were keen to purchase ewes with lambs at C and D Auction Marts’ sale of 817 head, where trade reached £92 per life for Texel hoggs with single lambs from Low Stanley. 
Ewes with lambs sold to £84 for Mules with twins from Quarry House, with the same home topping the 85 gimmers at £86 for a similar outfit. 
Texels from T and M Liddon, Tundergarth House, led the store hoggs at £77. 
The entry of 108 store cattle, saw bullocks top the trade at £1150 for Limousins from Edenbanks while heifers sold to £990 for more of the same from Dumbretton.
