CATTLE from Messrs Hamilton, Bee Edge, dominated Harrison and Hetherington's annual summer show and sale of prime cattle at St Boswells, this week, when they scooped both the champion and reserve tickets with the champion going on to top the sale at £1622 or 275p per kg.

Judge, A Cooper of Coopers Butchers, Bellshill, tapped out a 590kg Limousin cross heifer as his champion before buying her and the reserve champion, another Limousin cross heifer which scaled 598kg for £1584 or 265p.

Outwith the show and sale, 19 bullocks averaged 232p (+5p on the week) while the 37 heifers cashed in at 234p (+3p).

Cast cows (33) levelled at 150p and peaked at 181p from Cragside and £1544.88 from Upper Huntlywood.

On the same day, Harrison and Hetherington sold 836 lambs which averaged 262p (-30p on the week) and sold to £147 twice for Texels from Thirlestane and 282p for Texels from the same home, while 149 hoggs levelled at 184p (+11p) and peaked at £127 and 221p for Suffolk crosses from Boon.

A strong show of cast ewes levelled at £85 and sold to £145 for Texel cross ewes from Butterdean.
