TWO dispersal sales were hosted by Aberdeen and Northern Marts at its Thainstone centre, on Monday, when 118 head of Holstein Friesians went under the hammer, selling to a strong ringside of buyers from the Shetland and Orkney Isles right down to the South-west of Scotland.

It was the dispersal on behalf of Messrs GCW Chalmers, Drum Farm, Keith, that led the offering when an in-calf heifer peaked at £1550 from the 42 on offer. Other Drum highlights saw 34 heifers that had ran with the bull sell to £1150, while the 16 maidens free of the bull reached £800.

The three in-calf cows sold to £820 while 12 heifer calves hit £440.

The final part of the dispersal from C Mair and Partners' herd at Monyruy, Longside, saw the nine in-calf heifers peak at £1450.
