Superceding the 25,000gns record breaking trade achieved at last year's show and sale of pedigree Charollais sheep at Worcester, was always going to be difficult, but the event came pretty close when a tup lamb sold for 22,000gns.

Living up to his name at last weekend's sale at Worcester was Ffrwd Top Notch, a ram born and bred in Anglesey by Dewi Evans, which sold for the top price to Jonathan and Janett Corbett, Worcestershire.

Reared outside day and night since the first week of January, this cracker is by 2017 purchase, Edstaston Sotogrande, a tup bought in partnership with the Wedderburn flock for 4000gns, and bred from a home-bred Ffrwd dam by Mortimer Majestic.

Another from the same home and by the same sire, Ffrwd Tyrone, but bred from a ewe by Loanhead Outlaw, made 6200gns to a quartet of Welsh buyers to include Adrian Davies, Justin Evans, Tim Pritchard and David Curran.

Aberdeenshire breeders, Gregor and Bruce Ingram, Inverurie, enjoyed another good day at this sale too, selling the second top priced tup lamb at 9500gns and the top two highest priced shearling rams at 2100gns and 2000gns.

Their top lamb, Loanhead Trademark, was overall champion at the pre-sale show and sold with an EBV of 358.88, to Kenny and Sheila Malcomson, Northern Ireland. He is by Hollylodge Supreme, a son of Rhaeadr Prospect, bought privately last year, is bred from a home-bred ewe by Logie Durno Officer that stood reserve champion at the Highland Show, last year.

Two other lambs by Supreme, Loanhead Titan and Loanhead Top Gun, made 2400gns and 2500gns, to Abbie Moseley, Shropshire and Drew and Stephen Cowan, Northern Ireland, respectively.

Leading the shearling trade for the brothers at 2100gns was the section champion, Loanhead Saxon, by Wernfawr Red Bull son, purchased by Gwynn and Jeannette Williams, Brecon.

Their second shearling, Loanhead Sterling, by Rhaeadr Orlando, was bought by Volken Derbisz, Germany, for 2000gns.

On the other side of the coin, the boys' parents, William and Carole Ingram, who own the Logie Durno flock also from Inverurie, went to 5800gns for Dalby Tuilagi, a tup lamb from Charles Sercombe's Leicestershire-based Dalby flock. Backed by generations of home-bred sires, he is Dalby Ranieri, a son of Dalby Next GT and bred from a ewe by Dalby Kracked-It. A full brother to Dalby Triple Threat, he sold with an EBV index of 451.49, putting him in the top 1% of the breed for index, lead 5% for growth and top 1% for muscle.

Sons of last year's record breaking Knockin Shockin bought for 25,000gns by Shropshire breeder, Robert Gregory of the Edstaston flock, also proved popular, selling to 5800gns. This price was paid for Edstaston Tempranillo, purchased by Edward Buckley and Jim Jeffrey, Southern Ireland. Tempranillo is bred from a home-bred ewe by Arjane Jumanji, and boasted an EBV index of 386, which is in the top 10% of the breed. The six Shockin sons averaged just shy of £3000 at £2969.

The breeder of Knockin Shockin, Abbie Moseley, Oswestry, sold next at 5000gns when her reserve overall champion, Knockin Tickle My Fancy, by Oakchurch Ruben – the sire of the 25,000gns Knockin Shockin, was purchased by three breeders to include Geoff Biddulph, Mary Madders and Stuart Johnson, Stafford. He is bred from a home-bred ewe by Rainbow Lindisfarne.

David Roberts who owns the Boyo flock from Shropshire, had a second week of sale success too following his great trade at the Females with Figures sale; selling three ram lambs at big prices.

Dearest at 3400gns was Boyo Tyson, a Mortimer Power Ranger son purchased by Gwynne and Gail Jones, Chepstow which was followed by a 3200gns transaction for Boyo Toy Story, by Aberkinsey Nitrogen, bought by Tom Newth, Somerset. And, Boyo The Greatest Showman, by Galtress Favour made 2900gns selling to Robert Tindall, Yorkshire.

Robbleston Tornado, a Rhaeadr Real Deal-sired lamb out of an Arbryn ewe, from the Jones family, Harverfordwest, made 3300gns selling to the Elsworthy family, Exeter.

Top priced female at 1900gns was a gimmer from the Ingram's Logie Durno flock, purchased by Lawrence Buckland, Gloucester. The first prize ewe lamb at last year's Highland Show, she is by Wernfawr Red Bull and bred from a ewe by the show winning ram, Logie Durno Jackpot.

The family also received 1700gns for another by the same sire, purchased by Edward Buckley.

Matching that price was the best from William McAllister's Artnagullion flock from Ballymena, Northern Ireland, bought by David Roberts. She is by Riverdale Preacher and bred from the McAllister's champion winning ewe at Balmoral Show this year
