ALL classes of store cattle sold well at United Auctions’ annual Fair Day show and sale of 361 cattle at Dalmally, despite the recent dry weather and lack of grass and winter feed.

A pre-sale show of store cattle was judged by Bill Cameron, Burnside of Edingight, who picked out a Limousin bullock from Duncan Semple, Dippen, as his champion which was later knocked down for £1220.
In reserve was a British Blue heifer from Messrs Lines, Killocraw, which realised £1200.

Dippen also topped the gross trade with a Limousin cross heifer which realised £1290, as the 130 heifers also reached 291p per kg for another Limmy cross from Uigle and cashed in to average 213.9p.

Bullocks (210) levelled at 228.2p, having peaked at 266.4p for a British Blue cross from Killocraw and £1260 for an Aberdeen-Angus cross from Balegreggan.
