Dumfries

C and D Auctions Ltd had forward 733 lambs for their weekly sale with the top price going to a Suffolk from Netherhall at 231p per kg. Price per head peaked at £130 for a Texel from Belridding. Out of 766 cast sheep a Texel from Shieldhill topped the trade at £224.

Wooler

This week had 1403 sheep sold by Harrison and Hetherington with lambs (901) averaging 258p per kg and selling to 328p for a pen of Beltex from Tritlington Hall. Top price per head went to Texels at £140 for M Hay, Fern Cottage, Paxton. Cast sheep sold to £209 per head for a Texel from Liburn Estates.

Huntly

United Auctions had 837 lambs forward at their weekly sale averaging 229p per kg. Topping the trade was a 40kg Beltex cross at 263p from Stoneyhill, Alvah and a 61kg Blue Texel from Inchford, Cornhill grossing at £137 per head. Cast sheep sold to £222 for Texels from 2 Balloch View, Grange.

Longtown

Lambs (3987) averaged 248.7p per kg at the C and D Auctions sale. A pen of Beltex topped the trade at 330p from M and M Byrne, Thornthwaite Close, Wigton. Price per head sold to £260 for Texels from AM and L Sutherland, Carran, Thurso. Texels ewes topped the cast sheep sale at £290 from Highfield Farming, Knock, Duns cast cattle sold to £1311 for a Simmental from TL Hogg and Son, Ryehills, Canonbie.

Stirling (UA)

United Auctions saw 7731 sheep sold in their weekly sale with 5243 lambs averaging 239.91p per kg selling to 321p for Beltex from Newtwon of Inshewan. Price per head sold to £150 for Beltex from Blairmore. Texel ewes topped the cast sheep trade selling at £224 for Nether Pitlochie.

Stirling (Cally)

Limousins dominated the trade of Caledonian Marts weekly sale comprising of 71 prime and 36 cast cattle. Heifers averaged 311p per kg and sold to 330p from M Orr and Sons, Penston and M Jack, Carriston. Prices per head sold to £2195 for a Limousin from D Dickinson, Brockwoodlees. Bullocks averaged 310p per kg and sold to 335p for a Limousin from A A and J Brand, Nethermyres. Price per head sold to £2178 for a Limousin from J and J Wylie, Knockhouse. Cast cattle averaged 186p per kg and sold to 225p for a Limousin from G R Aitken, Traprain and to £1710 for a Luing from R McNee, Woodend. Lambs averaged 248p per kg with a Beltex topping the trade at 341p from G and J Davie, Harviesmailing, Denny. Price per head sold to £158 for Beltex from Doune Farms, West Lundie, Argaty. Ewes topped the cast sale at £280 for a pair of Texels from J R Macgregor, Dyke, Milton of Campsie

Thainstone

Aberdeen and Northern Marts had 66 prime cattle forward with bullocks selling to 321p per kg or £2019.55 gross per head for an 845kg Limousin cross from Braeside. Heifers sold to 315p for 540kg Limousin cross from Whiteside, Tullynessle with prices per head grossing £1990.80 for an 840kg Beef Shorthorn cross from Auchtydonald, Longside. Young bulls sold to 277p for a Limousin also from Auchtydonald. A 955kg Charolais from Easter Knox, Arbirlot topped price per head at £2206.05 gross. Cast cattle (168) averaged £1540.60 with finished cows topping the sale at £2590 for a 942kg British Blue cross from Tillydesk, Ellon. Lambs (1369) averaged 233p per kg and sold to 279.1p for 43kg Beltex from No 4 Largue Cottages, Forgue. Top price per head grossed £131 for 60kg Texels from Uppermill, Tarves. Cast sheep (1036) averaged £67.98 and sold to £217.50 for pure Texels from Glenisla, Gulberwick.

St Boswells

This week’s sale saw 92 cattle and 2284 sheep sold by Harrison and Hetherington. Bullocks (33) averaged 301p per kg and sold to 324p to Oldcastles and £2086.92 per head for Whitrighill. Heifers (31) averaged 303p and sold to 336p or £2130.12 for Mosstower. Young bulls (4) averaged 235p and sold to 294p for Faughhill. Cast cows (24) averaged 219p and sold to 247p from Corsbie and £2380.50 from Muricleugh. Some 1606 lambs averaged 255p per kg and selling to 326.8p for a pen of Beltex from Wauchhope. Price per head sold to £167 for Texels from Earlston Mains. Cast sheep peaked at £203 for a Texel tup from W Dunlop, Elmscleugh.

Lanark

Lawrie and Symington had forward 154 cattle with Limousins topping the trade. Heifers sold to 340p per kg or £2128 per head for Messrs Dickinson, Brockwoodlees Farm, Canonbie. Bullocks sold to 304p for Messrs Allison, Muirburn Farm, Biggar or to £1983 for Messrs Torrance and Son, Knowetop Farm, Quarter. Cast cows sold to £1810 for Messrs Aitken, Scotstonbank Farm, Blyth or to 251p per kg for Messrs Gray, Scrogton Farm, Lanark. Texel lambs topped the sheep sale at £158 per head from Messrs Warnock, Hill Farm, Strathaven and Messrs Baillie, Broomfield Lodge, Larkhall. Prices per kg sold to 321p from Messrs Padkin, Muirhouse, Lanark for Beltex.

Ayr

This week’s sale saw 3287 sheep sold by Craig Wilson Ltd with lambs selling to £142 per head for a pen of Beltex from Messrs J Sloan and Sons, Little Creoch Farm. Price per kg sold to 310p also for a pen of Beltex from Messrs W and A Watson, The Muir Farm. Leading the trade for cast sheep was a pair of Texel tups selling for £200 per head from J A Gibson and Co, Cowgrove. Heifers (8) averaged 292.74p per kg and sold to 318p from North Boig. Bullocks (2) averaged 281p and sold to 319p for a Limousin cross also from North Boig. Cast cattle sold to £1900 per head for both a Charolais bull from Martnaham Mains and a Simmental cow from Barscarrow.

Dingwall

Dingwall and Highland Marts sold eight bullocks averaging 264.6p per kg and sold to 280p for Charolais cross from Shoreton Farm and to £1715.20 per head for a Limousin cross from Allanglach. Heifers (4) averaged 267.9p and sold to 270p for a Limousin cross also from Shoreton. Price per head sold to Easter Sheep Park for a Charolais cross at £1748.95. Some 1065 sheep were sold with lambs (588) averaging 215.3p per kg and selling to 261p and £120 gross for a pen of Beltex crosses from Easter Suddie, Munlochy. Cast sheep grossed to £168 for a pen of Texel ewes from Meddat Farm, Kildary.

Castle Douglas

Some 1786 sheep were sold at Wallet Marts weekly sale with lambs (1193) averaging 254.76p per kg and sold to 301.1p for Texels from Messrs McConchie Mossyards. Texels also took top price per head at £135.50 from Messrs McConnell, Gass, Glenluce. Cast sheep (593) sold to £187 for a Texel tup from Messrs Hamilton, Derrie.
