A top per head of £158 was paid for more of the same from JG McMillan and Co, Over Airies.

Cast sheep sold for £143 for a Texel ewe from Merrick.

Dumfries

Beltex crosses from Cleughbrae, achieved 361p per kg and £195 at C and D Auctions' sale of 904 lambs.

Cast sheep (300) sold to £182 for Texel ewes from Mains of Airies.

On the cattle front a 630kg Limousin from J Jardine, Yett, made 450p, with bullocks peaking at 390p for another of the same breed from Rachel Barr, Meikle Kirkland.

Cast cattle averaged 170.3p and sold to 250p for a Limousin cow from JB Paterson and Co, Hartbush, and to £2072 for an Aberdeen-Angus cow from M and HD Currie, Skewbridge.

Wooler

Beltex led Harrison and Hetherington's sales when achieving £250 for WK McGowan, Craiglea, and 326p per kg for C Mellor, Annstead. Cast sheep reached £200 on two occasions, firstly for a pair of Texel ewes from Annstead, and for a Beltex cross ewe from Craiglea.

Huntly

Lambs (1350) averaged 245p per kg and sold for 433p or £235 for 54.3kg Texels from Hilton of Culsh, New Deer at the United Auctions' sale.

Cast sheep sold for £270 for Texel ewes from Cairnborrow, Glass.

Longtown

More than 5000 lambs came under the hammer at C and D Auctions' sale having cashed in at 270.8p per kg.

Beltex attained 510p or £250 for M Batty and Z Hall, Pirnaton.

Texels led the cast sheep at £315 for Messrs Mcvay, Green Hill. Simmentals topped the cast cattle trade at £1755 from Dempster Barguillean Partnership, Robmar, Argyll.

Stirling (Cally)

Beltex topped Caledonian Marts' sale at £230 or 469p per kg for M Simpson, Berrydyke, with lambs balancing out at 262.2p.

Cast sheep sold to £183 for Beltex from DS and RC Taylor, Easter Ochtermuthill, Muthill.

Thainstone

Some 1194 sheep sold by Aberdeen and Northern Marts witnessed 1147 lambs balance out at 264p per kg.

A top call of 317.9p was paid for 42kg Beltex crosses from Bankhead, Portlethen, and to £156.50 for 70kg Cheviots from Easter Aquhollie, Rickarton.

Cast sheep averaged £70.82 and sold for £251.50 for a Texel from West Teuchan Farm, Cruden Bay.

On the cattle front bullocks and heifers levelled at 271.7p and 278.8p respectively.

A 755kg Limousin cross led the bullock trade at 293p and £2212.15 for Woodhead of Cairnbanno, New Deer.

Heifers sold for 324p for a 575kg Limousin cross and £1952.70 for a Charolais cross both from Pityot, Bridge of Muchalls.

Young bulls averaged 237.4p and achieved a top of 284p on two occasions for a 740kg Limousin cross from Woodhead of Cairnbanno and for a 640kg British Shorthorn cross from Arwick, Evie.

Cast cattle peaked at £2080 for a 852kg British Blue cow from Pittenkerrie, Glassel.

St Boswells

Harrison and Hetherington witnessed 1999 lambs average 271p per kg having reached 338.3p per kg or £178 for Beltex from Crookston.

A pair of Texel ewes led the cast sheep at £220 for Huntington Farm Partnership.

Bullocks averaged 306p and sold to 320p or £2161.44 from Bee Edge, whilst heifers cashed in at 306p and peaked at 338p from Bee Edge and £2003.40 from Learielaw.

Cast cattle sold for £2134.26 for a cow from Thorneydykes.

Lanark

Limousin heifers led Lawrie and Symington's sale when selling to 348p per kg or £2018 for Messrs Dickinson, Brockwoodlees, Cannonbie.

Bullocks sold to 320p for Limousins from TH Gray, Balquharrage, Lennoxtown, and to £1786 for more of the same from Barrie Farmers, Howburn, Biggar.

Cast cattle peaked at £1610 for a cow from JRW Montgomery Farming, Colmslie, Galashiels and to 220p for a cow from BW and J Orr, Dykehead, Chapelton.

On the sheep front, cast sheep (2171) levelled at £71.39 and sold for £262 for a Texel ewe from I Laird, Yeldabrek.

Ayr

Some 2743 sheep were forward at Craig Wilson's sale with 2086 lambs averaging 263.1p per kg having sold to 325p for a pair of Beltex from Messrs Gatherer, Hill of Ochiltree and to £171 for a 80kg Texel from J Carsewell, Greenhill, Kilmarnock.

Cast sheep made £210 for a Texel ewe from B Sloan, Mull of Galloway. Heifers (13) averaged 309.03p and sold to 319p for a Limousin from Messrs Smith, North Boig, and Burnockston.

Cast cattle peaked at £1740 for an Aberdeen-Angus cow from R Dunlop, Middlepart, and to 205.4p for a Limousin cross from G Cook, Glendoune.

Dingwall

Texel crosses led Dingwall and Highland Marts' sale of 805 sheep having sold to 253p per kg and £128 for the Dell of Killiehuntly, Kingussie, having cashed in at 235.3p.

Cast sheep sold for £122 for Texel crosses from Kinnahaird, Contin.

Limousin cattle led the heifer trade at 296p for a 585kg entry and to £1764 for a 600kg animal both from Bridgend, Dingwall, which balanced out at 283.1p.

Castle Douglas

Some 2510 sheep forward by Wallets Marts, witnessed 2155 lambs average 263.69p per kg.

A top call of 489.4p or £230 was paid for Beltex from A MacTaggart, Station Yard.

Cast sheep achieved £185 on three occasions, firstly for a Texel ewe from Messrs MacTaggart, Rascarrel, and then for a Blueface Leicester tup and a Texel tup both from Messrs Graham, Barr Farm.
