Charolais crosses led the bullock trade, having sold to 359.10p for a 402kg entry from Taiglim and to £2040 for a 735g animal from Holehouse.

Heifers sold for 327.20p for a 434kg Charolais cross from Helentongate, and to £1870 for a 634kg Limousin cross from Elmscleugh.

Aberdeen-Angus crosses led the young bull trade at 286.20p for Philiphaugh, and to £1440 for Glaive Avenue, with 24 cashing in at 265.19p.

Also forward were 814 stores and feeding sheep where Beltex took the lead average of £105.60.

Romney and Texels cashed in at £98.18 and £96.38 respectively, with Mule at £96.00, Suffolk at £94.75, Cheviot at £91.35, crosses at £90.93 and Blackface balancing out at £87.12.

The sale was topped at £106.50 for Beltex from Blackburn Mill.

Averages jumped on the year at United Auctions' sale of 618 cattle, with bullocks (326) and heifers (262) cashing in at 317.7p per kg (+43.9p per kg on year) and 292.9p (+34.7p).

Limousin crosses were in demand, having attained 394.7p for 375kg bullocks from Coleburn, Elgin, and to 354.6p for 502kg heifers from Birselawsie, Midmar.

Among the per head section it was Charolais crosses that led proceedings at £2000 for 597kg bullocks from Ardlewie, Cabrach, and to £1940 for 651kg heifers from Gunnhill, Inverurie.
