Bullocks (805) and heifers (649) averaged 307.01p per kg and 283.62p respectively at United Auctions' weekly store cattle sale.

Bullocks sold for 384.60p for a 364kg British Blue cross from West Quarter, and to £1970 for a 738g Simmental cross from Nether Falla.

A 506kg Limousin cross from Knockrivoch, led the heifers at 347.80p, whilst a 706kg Simmental cross made £1860 for Easter Greenhill.

Young bulls (49) cashed in at 269.47p having sold to 333.30p for a Charolais cross from Knollhead, and to £1190 for a Beef Shorthorn cross from Little Galla.

Some store and feeding sheep reached £118 for Texels from Auchenflower, with this breed cashing in at £91.34.

Mules averaged £89.32, whilst Suffolk and Cheviots levelled at £94.22 and £76.10 respectively. Crosses cashed in at £76.17, with Blackface at £75.61.

Limousin heifers topped Harrison and Hetherington's store cattle sale at £2500 for Messrs Kirkbride, Flimby Hall.

Bullocks sold to £2200 for Limousins from Messrs Moffat, Stone House.

The judge, Ben Winn, awarded his champion and reserve tickets to heifers from Messrs Donald, Denton Mains which reached £1930 and £1900 respectively.

Kevin Watret, Northfield Park, sold a British Blue bull at £1720 to top the weaned cattle.

Limousin heifers attained £1470 for Messrs Cowx and Son, Hudscales.

The weekly sale of calves reached £645 for a Stabiliser cross bull calf from AR and HF Errington, Sockbridge Hall, Penrith.

Heifer calves reached £580 on two occasions, firstly for a Limousin from J and E Pattinson, Bonshawside, Kirtlebridge, and again for a British Blue from JW and VI Naylor, Hill Green.

On Monday, the firm held its weekly sale of 500 store lambs which achieved an average of £83.55.

Topping the sale at £133 was a single Texel lamb from M and A Faulder, Ewan Close.

British Blues led the bullocks at 438.8p for a 237kg entry from Shewglie, Glenurquhart, and to £1900 for a 640kg bullock from Invercharron, Ardgay.

Heifers sold to 449.1p for a 285kg Limousin cross from East Murkle Farm Cottage, Castletown, and to £2000 for a 700kg Charolais from The Cloy, Fortrose.

A 435kg Aberdeen Angus cross from South Balkeith, Tain, led the young bulls at £980, whilst a Limousin bull reached £3600 for Olrig Mains, Castletown.

A top price of £1980 was achieved on three occasions, firstly for a Charolais bullock from Newark, and twice for Limousin bullocks from Longhouse.

A Limousin bullock from West Brockloch, led the pence per kg section at 425p.

Heifers peaked at £1890 for a Charolais from East Kerse, and to 338p for Limousins from Knockterra and Longhouse.

Some 1068 store lambs were also forward, having sold to £116 for Beltex crosses from B Craig, Rankinston.

On Tuesday, the firm sold two dairy cattle to a top of £2000 for a Friesian calved heifer from High Branchal.

A mixed show of calves and stirks reached £1280 for British Blue bullock stirks from East St Colmac, with heifers peaking at £1200 for Aberdeen Angus from the same home.

Among the calves, a top call of £580 was paid for a pair of Aberdeen Angus bull calves from Tinto View, with British Blue heifers making £550 for Low Barledziew.
