Bullocks (735) and heifers (466) averaged 293.92p per kg and 281.18p respectively at United Auctions' weekly store cattle sale.

Limousin crosses from Ballechin Farms, were in demand, with a 450kg bullock making 348.90p and a 442kg heifer realising 382.40p.

Among the per head section it was Limousin crosses from West Meikle Pinkerton, that led the way with a 559kg bullock and a 668kg heifer selling for £1860 and £1890 respectively.

Young bulls (32) averaged 285.72p and sold to 334.80p for a Charolais cross from Gatepark, and to £1400 for an Aberdeen Angus cross from Philliphaugh.

Some 1336 store and feeding sheep sold to £140 for Texels from Sauchrie Mains, with this breed averaging £105.71.

Mule and Suffolks cashed in at £94.88 and £99.00 respectively, with Cheviot and crosses at £71.62 and £48.00, and finally Blackface cashed in at £83.55.

Heifers (136) averaged 307.4p per kg and sold to 373.4p for a 474kg Limousin cross from Braebuster, Deerness.

Among the bullocks (131) a top of 363.2p was paid for 402kg Charolais crosses from Cluseburn, Inverbervie, whilst 658kg Aberdeen Angus made £1925 for Corsehill, Bucksburn, to cash in at 309.7p.

Bulls (2) sold to 267.8p and £1280 for a 478kg Simmental cross from Blackford, Croy.

On Tuesday, the firm sold 2309 store and breeding sheep including island consignments, where continental crosses from West Davoch, Tarland led proceedings at £139, with 1922 store lambs averaging £101.52.

Island consigned store lambs (360) cashed in at £105.26 and reached £121 for Suffolks from Quendale, Dunrossness.

Some 2740 store hoggs achieved an average of £106.14, which is an increase of £6.25 on the week and £33.28 on the year for 701 more sold.

Topping the sale at £162 was a pair of Texels from AG and D Bisset, Middle Dukesfield.
