Bullocks (476) and heifers (293) averaged 307.76p per kg and 289.98p respectively at United Auctions' weekly store cattle sale.

Bullocks sold for 344.70p for a 412kg Aberdeen Angus cross from Drumbuie, and to £1930 for a 654g Charolais cross from Gatehead.

A 467kg Aberdeen Angus cross from Kipperoch, led the heifers at 336.20p, whilst a 644kg Charolais cross from Holehouse, made £1910.

Simmental crosses led the young bulls to trade at 322.70p and £1325 for Colmslie, and Newsteadings, respectively, to cash in at 280.03p.

Also forward were 1466 store and feeding sheep, which reached £124 for Beltex from High Milndovan, with this breed averaging £107.26.

Leading the averages at £108.98 was the Suffolk, with Texels and Cheviot Mules cashing in at £98.73 and £96.81 respectively. Cheviot at £96.54, with Mule and Blackfaces balancing out at £96.45 and £82.01 respectively.

More than 700 cattle came under the hammer at Harrison and Hetherington's weekly store cattle, when selling to £2080 for Charolais bullocks from Messrs Hewetson, Lords Close, Allonby.

Heifers made £1740 for a British Blue from Messrs Mason, Bank Farm, Penrith.

Weaned cattle realised £1490 for a Limousin bull from Messrs Henshall.

British Blue bullocks from Vevers Limited, secured £1370, with heifers selling for £1320 on two occasions for British Blues and Limousins both coming from Messrs Gorst.

The monthly beef breeding sale, witnessed a Limousin heifer and calf from Messrs Cowan, The Ash.

Some 258 calves cashed in at £275, having sold to £635 for an Aberdeen Angus cross bull calf from Andrew Vance, Portyerrock, Newton Stewart.

Heifers topped at £490 for British Blues from AJ and JA McKie, Wedholme Hill.

On Monday, the firm also conducted their weekly sale of store lambs which reached £139 for Beltex from S and D Peile, Parkgate, Wigton.

The dispersal of the in lamb Texel ewes, gimmers, ewe hoggs and tup hoggs on behalf of Lilburn Estates, witnessed 300 head come under the hammer, having sold to £600 for a Suffolk ram hogg.

Gimmers were also in the money at £500.

Heifers led the proceedings at £1950 for a Shorthorn cross from Auchlinleck Estate, and to 341p for Limousin heifers off Hallrig.

An Aberdeen Angus from High Kilbride, topped the bullocks at £1940, with Limousins from Garpin, making 396p.

Also forward were 602 store hoggs, which reached £134 for Suffolk and Texels from the McMillan family at Eskechraggan.

On Tuesday, the firm sold six dairy cattle to a top of £2500 for a Holstein Friesian heifer from J Kennedy and Son, Perryston.

A large show of 101 calves and stirks reached £1370 for a Charolais cross bullock from Messrs Hutton, Laigh Corton.

Bullocks led the proceedings at 386.4p for 374kg Charolais crosses from Milton of Noth, Rhynie, and to £2280 on two occasions, firstly for a 726kg British Blue cross from Heads of Auchinderran, Aultmore and again a for a 746kg Charolais cross from Quarryhill, Keith.

Charolais crosses topped the heifer section, at 376.9p for a 390kg animal from Milton of Noth, Rhynie and to £1970 for a 646kg heifer from Broomhill Farm, Dunecht.

Simmental crosses from Wairds Farm, Downies, led the bull trade at 236.8p for a 456kg animal and to £1310 for three weighing 562kg.

On Tuesday, 1893 store lambs cashed in at £105.91 and sold to £145 for Beltex from The Mall, Cormalet.

Island consigned store lambs (572) averaged £96.75 and witnessed a top call of £140 twice, firstly for Beltex from Sebay, Tankerness and also for Contentials from Barswick, South Ronaldsay.

Texel cross ewes from Overton of Ardo, Methlick, led the breeding sheep at £235, with this section balancing out at £214.02, whilst ewe lambs levelled at £117.32 having sold to £127 for Cheviot Mules from Bush of Muldearie, Keith.
