Some 1270 sheep sold through Craig Wilson’s auction mart saw 943 hoggs average 281.06p per kg, selling to 313p for Beltex from A and J Wright, Trayboyack. Prices per head reached £170 for Texels from JR Howie, Auchentibbert.

Cast sheep sold to £209 for Texels also from Auchentibbert.

Dumfries

Hoggs averaged 294.2p per kg at C and D Auction Marts’ sale and sold to 328p for Texels from Copewood or £151 per head for Suffolks from West Skelston.

Cast sheep sold to £218 for Texel ewes also from Copewood.

Huntly

United Auctions had forward 2126 sheep at their sale where 1376 old season lambs averaged 271p per kg having sold to 314p for a 42kg Beltex from Meikle Northnurn or to £169 for a pair of 59kg Texels from Corskie, Garmouth.

Cast sheep reached £192 for a Texel ewe from Berryleys, Grange.

Longtown

Hoggs reached £200 on three occasions at C and D Auction Marts’ sale for Beltex from J and AM Moralee Hardriding, Bardon Mill, Blue Texels from D Brisbane, Little Tongue, Stranraer and for Bluefaced Leicesters from W and PF Walton, Penpeugh, Bardon Mill.

Top price per kg was 411p for Beltex from Downie Farming Co, Newton, Ballater. Overall, the 5535 hoggs averaged 295.3p.

Cast sheep sold to £305 for Texel ewes from Messrs Hastings, Burncroft. Cast cattle reached 229p for a Limousin from N McBurney, Balsalloch, Ballantrae or to £1628 for a Beef Shorthorn from D and T Bradley Farmer, Wester Parkgate, Dumfries.

Stirling (UA)

An entry of 6361 sheep sold through United Auctions saw 4604 hoggs average 292.71p per kg with a top price of 380p for Beltex from Doune Farms or £177 for Texels from Elmscleugh.

Cast sheep sold to £220 for Texel ewes also from Elmscleugh.

Stirling (Cally)

At Caledonian Marts’ sale of prime cattle sale, heifers averaged 306p having sold to 332p for a Limousin from A Kennedy and Sons, Seggarsdean, Haddington and to £2071 for another of the same breed from J Burnett and Sons, Upper Spittalton, Blairdrummond.

Bullocks averaged 295p and reached 330p for a Limousin from W Dandie and Sons, Learielaw, Broxburn or to £2119 for a Limousin from T and E Tod, Nether Longford, West Calder.

Limousins also topped the young bulls which sold to 290p for an entry from W Dick and Sons, Mains of Throsk, Stirling or £2593 from Upper Spittalton.

Cast cattle averaged 183p, having sold to 233p for a British Blue from C Dick, Taylorton or to £1850 for an Aberdeen Angus from GR Aitken, Traprain.

On Tuesday, Beltex topped the firm’s hogg trade at 391p per kg for a pair from G and J Davie, Harviesmailing, Denny. The same pair also sold for the lead price per head of £172 alongside a duo of Beltex from DS and RC Taylor, Easter Ochtermuthill, Muthill.

Overall 955 hoggs averaged 290.77p or £131.30 with cast sheep selling to £222 for Texel ewes from JAC Stewart, Kinninmonth.

Thainstone

Aberdeen and Northern Marts sold 121 prime cattle at their sale where bullocks averaged 282.9p having sold to 329p for a 590kg Limousin from Berrytop, Netherley, or to £2274.20 for an 830kg Limousin cross from Ladymill, Alford.

Heifers averaged 295.3p and sold to 334p for a 615kg Limousin from Chapel of Barras, Stonehaven, or £2070.30 for a 670kg Limousin cross from Ladymill.

Young bulls averaged 244.1p having reached 304p for 645kg Limousin cross from Newton of Savoch, Longside, or £2630.40 for a 960kg Limousin from West Knock, Mintlaw.

Cast cattle sold to £2450 for a 1028kg Aberdeen Angus cross cow from Smallburn Farms, Duffus.

Old season lambs (2363) averaged 287.9p and sold to 730.2p for 63kg Texels and £520 for 72kg Texels both from Harestone, Crathes.

Cast sheep (1301) averaged £79.57 having sold to £202 for a Beltex from North Tarwaithie, Strichen.

Darlington

Heifers and bullocks averaged 330p and 321p per kg respectively at the Darlington Farmers Auction Mart weekly sale.

Heifers sold to 368p from JV and JA Hodgson, The Grange and B Walker, Birch Springs, or to £2257 for a 622kg Limousin also from the Grange. Bullocks reached 327p and to £2358 from WJ Scott Ltd, Low Leam. Young bulls cashed in at 279p having sold to 327p for a 717kg Limousin from AC Simpson and Son, McNeil Farm and a 764kg British Blonde from F and JS Gargett, Westwick Farm. Top price per head was £2753 for an 894kg Limousin from McNeil Farm.

Hoggs (2682) averaged 287p and sold to 396p or £202 for a 51kg Beltex from P and CM Graham, Dyance Farm, Gainsford.

Cast sheep sold to £216 for a pair of Texel ewes from PR Weaver, Notts.

St Boswells

Some 1258 hoggs forward for the Harrison and Hetherington’s sale averaged 300p per kg with a top of 361p paid for Beltex from Glenogle. Beltex also topped the price per head at £169 from Corsbie.

Cast sheep (495) averaged £103.66 and sold to £220 for a Texel ewe from L and T Story, Rugley Farm.

Bullocks (31) averaged 295p and sold to 328p or £2125.44 from Learielaw.

Heifers (110) averaged 298p having sold to 336p for both West Garleton and Fowberry Moor or to £2277.60 from Longnewton.

Young bulls peaked at £1959.76 or 262p for Fowberry Moor with cast cows (63) averaging 185p with top prices of 251p from Whitburgh and £1929.46 from Wedderlie.

Carlisle

An entry of 2629 hoggs at Harrison and Hetherington’s sale saw Dutch Texels take the top price per kg at 424p for Messrs Story, Woodhead, while Beltex from Bruce Findlay, East Balgillo, produced the lead price per head at £190.

Cast sheep sold to £190 for Texel ewes from Messrs Gargett, Bon Vista.

Bullocks sold to £2343.15 for a 762kg Limousin cross from Messrs Bowe, Bothel Parks, Wigton and to 319.5p for a 702kg Limousin cross from Messrs Nicholson, The Lake, Carlisle.

Heifers reached £2062.55 for a 710kg Limousin from Messrs Norman, Little Orton, Carlisle and to 325.5p for another of the same from Messrs Miller, High Aketon, Wigton.

Young bulls (112) sold to £2816.71 for a 922kg Charolais from Messrs Watson, Bowsden Moor, or to 329.5p for an 846kg British Blue from Messrs Jewitt, Gracies Farm, Barnard Castle.

Cast cattle sold to £2471 for a pair of 1096kg Limousin bulls.

Lanark

Lawrie and Symington had 46 bullocks and heifers and 87 cast cows at their sale, where heifers sold to 334p per kg or £1911 for a Limousin from DM Dickinson, Brockwoodlees, Canonbie.

Bullocks reached 290p for a Limousin from Barrie Farmers, Howburn, Biggar or to £1990 for a Limousin from AW Bryson, Mafflat, Quarter.

Cast cows sold to £1940 or 222.5p for a Limousin from A Lindsay, Kepscaith, Whitburn.

Hoggs (3079) averaged 292p having sold to 363p for Beltex from B and E Dickie, Spango and to £180 for a Suffolk from T and R Harper, Southmains.

Cast sheep (1585) averaged 94.45p and sold to £258 for Beltex from A Baillie, Carstairs Mains.

Ayr

An entry of 3296 sheep was forward at Craig Wilson’s sale which witnessed 2559 hoggs average 291p per kg having sold to 329p for Beltex from Kilkerran Estate, or to £168 for Texels from A and I Lamont, Sandieston.

Cast sheep reached £158 for a Texel ewe from A and I McFadzean, Ladywell Place.

Heifers (14) averaged 303.16p and sold to 328p for a Limousin cross from Messrs Smith, North Boig while bullocks sold to 330p or £2026.50 for a Limousin from North Boig.

A Charolais cow topped the cast cattle at £1920 for Dykes.

Dingwall

Dingwall and Highland Marts had forward 11 prime cattle with bullocks cashing in at 276.7p per kg having sold to 289p for a 620kg Limousin cross or to £1808.40 for a 660kg Hereford cross from Greenlands, Arabella.

Heifers averaged 288.1p and attained 304p for a 580kg Limousin cross from Bridgend, Dingwall, or £1876.80 for a 680kg Simmental cross from Kinnahaird, Contin.

Old season lambs (919) balanced out at 283p, selling to 305p for 43kg Texel crosses from Lochdhu, Nairn and to £154 for a 56kg Texel cross from Shorecroft, Culbokie.

Beltex cross ewes from Fearn Farm, Tain, led the cast sheep at £148.

Castle Douglas

Some 1593 old season lambs sold to average 290.83p per kg at Wallets Marts’ sale.

Texels topped the trade at £175 from Messrs Clingan, Main Street and to 332.1p per kg from John Kerr, Denty.

Cast sheep (236) reached £185 for a Texel tup from Messrs Graham, Irelandton.

Kirkby Stephen

Harrison and Hetherington had 3349 sheep forward at their sale where 2590 hoggs averaged 311.23p per kg having sold to 478.4p for 37kg Beltex crosses from Messrs Simpson, Highscale Farm, Wigglesworth.

Top price per head was £240 for a 50kg Beltex cross from Messrs Wills, Fawcett Park, Dufton.

Cast sheep peaked £268 for a Texel ewe from Messrs Whitfield, Cote House Barn, Bleatan.
