Topping the trade at £1950 per head was a Shorthorn cross heifer from Auchinleck Estate, while Limousin heifers from Hallrig attracted the lead price per kg at 341p.

Bullocks sold to £1940 for an Aberdeen Angus from High Kilbride or to 396p for Limousins from Garpin.

Friesian bullocks sold to £1690 or 286p for a pen from Drongan House.

Hoggs (602) sold to £134 for Suffolks and Texels from Messrs McMillan, Eskechraggan. Some 318 in-lamb ewes and gimmers sold on behalf of G McCubbin, Mossend, Coylton saw Mule gimmers selling to £200 and ewes to £190.

The breeding cattle sale saw heifers with calves at foot reach £2200 for a Limousin with a Limousin bull at foot from Kinknockie, Mintlaw while cows sold to £1780 for a Simmental with a Charolais heifer at foot from Cowfords Farm, New Pitsligo.

The 319 store cattle at C and D Auction Marts’ sale saw a Limousin bullock top the trade at £1720 for JR Jackson, Newbarn. Shorthorns produced the lead price per kg at 331.6p from Gartnagrenach Farm, Argyll.

Heifers sold to £1590 for a Limousin from Newbarn and to 316.3p for a British Blue from Low Glasnick.

The firm also held a production sale of maiden heifers and in calf Hereford cows, which was led by Ervie L1 Advance at £1900.

This young cow with high maternal traits caught the eye of S and R Irving, Caldbeck who also purchased Ervie LI Achiever 103020 at £1800.

Ervie L1 Advance 203028 then sold at £1750 to C T Fleming, Larkhall, with maiden heifers peaking at £1300 for Towford L1 Achiever 303135 when selling to I McConnell, Kirkmahoe.
