Charolais crosses led all sections at United Auctions' store cattle sale, when bullocks reached 355.00p per kg for a 338kg entry from Newbigging of Craighall, and to £1960 for a 672g animal from Logan, with 660 bullocks averaging 309.53p.

The same breed also led the heifers at 349.70p for a 386kg entry from Mahaar, and to £1800 for one weighing 597kg from Boghall, with 601 heifers balancing out at 298.47p.

Young bulls (35) averaged 287.74p and sold to 296.40p for a Limousin cross from Easter Frew and to £1400 for for another of the same from Mains of Burnbank.

On the sheep front Suffolk store lambs from Philiphaugh, secured the top price of £140, with this breed averaging £119.40.

Texel and Cheviots cashed in at £113.40 and £96.41 respectively whilst Mules and Blackfaces balanced out at £112.12 and £82.87 respectively.

A Charolais cross bullock from Alec Fisher, Lairdlaugh, Castle Douglas, led the proceedings at Harrison and Hetherington's weekly store cattle sale, when selling or £2180.

Bullocks and heifers averaged £1840 and £1350 respectively.

Aberdeen Angus led the heifer trade at £1900 for Messrs Robinson, Rowell, Milnthorpe.

Limousin bulls from Ross Farm led the weaned cattle trade at £1990.

Limousins led both the steers and heifers at £1700 from Stag House, and to £1420 from Upper Burnmouth, respectively.

Among the weekly sale of 308 calves achieved an average of £310/head.

A top price of £630 was achieved on two occasions, firstly for a pair of British Blue bulls from Thackwood Farms Ltd, Monkcastle and again for more of the same from Wadsworth Farming Ltd, Big Balcraig, Whauphill.

Heifers topped at £515 for British Blues from Wadsworth Farming Ltd.

On Monday, the weekly sale of store lambs averaged £107.29, having topped at £154 for a pair of Texel lambs from A Mounsey, Wigton.

The top price of £1990 was paid for a pair of British Blue bullocks from Barmoorhill, and 382p for Limousins from Deepstone.

Heifers peaked at £1900 for a Limousin from Coilsholm, and to 330p for more of the same from Deepstone.

Also forward were 544 store and breeding sheep, which sold to £170 for in lamb Texel cross ewes from A Jamieson, Hartfield. Store hoggs averaged £102.10, and reached £128 for Hampshire crosses from J Purdie, Ravenscroft.

On Tuesday, the firm sold 166 calves and stirks for £1250 for British Blue cross bullocks from A and C Robertson, East St Colmac.

Charolais cross bullocks weighing 402kg from Wellheads, Huntly, secured the top price of 425.4p per kg at Aberdeen and Northern Marts' store cattle sale, whilst a 682kg Limousin cross from Heather Cow Root, Flotta, realised £2070, with 647 bullocks averaging 326.1p.

A 586kg Simmental cross from Caskieben, Kinellar, led the heifers (436) at 399.3p and £2340, having cashed in at 325p.

Charolais led the bull (27) trade at 332.5p for a 412kg entry from Milton of Collieston, Ellon, and to £1650 which weighed 590kg for Firhills, Arbroath.

On Tuesday, the firm sold 2620 breeding and store sheep including island consignments, where Texel store lambs from Ros Cillala, Glassel, topped the sale at £165, with 1635 store lambs averaging £106.04.

Breeding sheep (197) sold to £145 for Suffolk cross gimmers from Nether Overhill, New Pitsligo.
