Sale leader was Peak Darlingo Rhapsody VG86, a second calver from Andrew and Alison Bunting, Midtown Farm, New Abbey, Dumfries. A daughter of the three-times UK Dairy Expo champion, Peak Goldwyn Rhapsody Ex97, she is sired by Ptit Coeur Doorman Darlingo and sold to Northern Ireland producer, David Leyburn, Armagh, Co Armagh.

Boclair Chief Apple from David and Jack Brewster, Boclair Farm, Bearsden, Glasgow, sold next at 3200gns to the Forsyth family, Baltier Farming Co, Whithorn, Newton Stewart. First in her class at the pre-sale show this fresh heifer is sired by Stantons Chief and bred from Boclair Atwood Apple VG88.

Baltier also went to 3100gns for Espland Adorable Flo from Alan Cannon, Espland Hill, Brampton, Appleby In Westmorland.

She is a result of a mating between the sire, Stantons Adorable and the dam, Wormanby Crushtime Flo VG86.

The pre-sale champion, Denmire Crushabull May, selected by the judge John Unsworth from Lancashire, made 3100gns for Messrs Dennison, Scales Farm, Aldingham, Ulverston.

This heifer in milk is sired by Oh-River-Syc Crushabull and bred from the Ex91-classified dam, Denmire Mercure May 11. She sold down to Preston with D Coulthurst, Goosnargh.

Stowbeck Renegade Lydia 3 made 2850gns for Skirwith Hall Farms, Penrith. A daughter of S-S-I Pr Renegade, she is bred from the VG86-classified dam Stowbeck Hotspot Lydia 3 and travels down to Devon with RA and JA Reed, Seaton.

Newcroft Holstein herd, owned by John and David Airey, Kirby Lonsdale, sold 70 yearling heifers to a top of 1900gns. Bred from the best cow families to include Quinn, Lulu, Rinze, Celica, Kay, Rixe, Belle, Adeen and Elegance, they were topped by the 15-month-old heifer, Newcroft Rubels Redrose Red, which sold to Messrs Hastwell, Kaber, Kirkby Stephen, who got for their money a daughter of Hoogerhorst DG Oh Rubels-Red, out of Newcroft Awesome Rose Red.
